The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Seems extreme, but would it be smooth on a single 980ti?

I'll post some images when I get home later today, and I'll see what the VRAM usage is. I can't use an OSD/overlay with it being an ENB however. I used RV Full, so might step down a level and see what happens.

I just got round to reinstalling realvision/elfx with most of the high res 2k/4k texture options and stuff like Perfect Whiterun/Riverwood Redux and it sits at 60fps (capped) @1080p with a 980Ti. It's perfectly smooth with the exception of the odd stutter when things are loading. Not seen vram usage go over 2.5Gb or so.

1440p sees it go down to around 50fps.
MSI AB overlay seems to work fine for me.

Ok, so loaded Skyrim and wandered around Whiterun hold (outside the city, near Peragia's Farm) at night. With ENB medium enabled, I'm using anything between 1500 and 1950MB of VRAM, so it's pretty clear I'm struggling there :(

Also, I've noticed the card's performance is being capped for the following reasons:

Rel = Reliability. Indicating perf is limited by reliability voltage.
VOp = Operating. Indicating perf is limited by max operating voltage.
Util = Utilization. Indicating perf is limited by GPU utilization. EDIT: Ignore this. It does this when the card is idling, nothing for me to worry about.

I'm assuming Util is because of the VRAM?

Also, got a few purple textures, so need to find out which mod is messing up:

Explain this capping software

It's just from GPUZ. It shows if the card is holding back or peaking. To me (no expert), it suggests that the card is being held back, and those are the reasons GPUZ gives.

Here's screenshot:

EDIT: Ignore what I said about the PerfCap reason Util. It does this when the card is idling, nothing for me to worry about. Looking at VRAM and GPU usage, the cards are at 80-100% GPU usage, and the primary card is almost always at 75%+ VRAM usage. Gutted. Really want a new card now though, ha!

Ok sorry, just been away and made a vid on Shadowplay so you can see how much it actually uses at 1080p

This is pretty vram intensive, outside falkreath. All textures, all HD, all realvision options (bar his optional mods at the bottom of the page which I aint got round to putting on yet)

My rig is a watercooled 980 and 2500K. Got the card on about +230MHz with about +400 on the memory and volts maxed.

CPU is on 4.5Ghz.

You don't need a 980Ti, it runs smoothly enough I think. You can see though, how you're down about a GB on VRAM running a 600 series card.

Oh yeah note the KS Hairdos HDT physics mod that came out today. Runs ok and doesn't affect FPS too much.

I guess it depends on how much difference there'll be between the 980Ti and Pascal, but it would mean waiting until next year to find out. I get what you mean with regards to forking out the cash on a Ti, but getting a normal 980 for £300 ish just to lose money again when Pascal arrives seems like false economy... I say I'll get £150 for my 670s, but that's if they sell...

If you went for the Ti then you would slightly better future proof yourself, and be able to play Skyrim on Nvidia DSR. Something which I cannot. Already tried it and FPS was down at 30 even with the massive overclock.

I would, if it was me, and I was still on a pair of 670's.

I dunno about that. I have to play it at 1080p on a 1440p screen or just 1080p on the telly to keep everything at a solid 60fps.
Depends on what exact settings/ENB/mods you're running, I guess.

Oh, here's a probably impossible question to answer without knowing a billion specifics: Any idea why I get a black screen for around 10-15 seconds every now and then? It's weird... You'd think it's crashed, but if you just wait, it comes back like nothing happened.

Definitely depends on the mods as I have just started running skyrim at 4k on a 980ti and get 60fps constantly and that is even with my cpu bottlenecking the whole rig.

I only have water/sky/texture packs and a sweetfx profile instead of ENB and haven't bothered with some of the amazing looking but intensive mods.

I did try an enb based mod and it slowed down to 50fps at a minimum so I removed it temporarily

I used to have that problem when I ran GTA4 on a non specific branded PSU that wasn't good enough for a 470. Never got a crash notification once.
I'm running a SF 1200w Platinum and it doesn't actually crash, or maybe it does, but not fully if that makes any sense? Like I say, it just goes black while all the sounds are playing, and 10secs later, it's all good and I continue on my way :D

@Gamble

Ok, I'm running realvision/elfx with DOF disabled (can't stand it) and full SMIMM & 4K+2K textures etc. At 1440p, it'll dip below 60 or just stay closer to 45-50 in most outdoor places which is annoying as it can chug/stutter in those cases.
Not too bothered tbh. It looks great anyway.

Would happen to me to but only for 1-2s. Dropped clock speed by 10mhz cured it

Having a mobile phone to close to your monitor can create a lot of EMI/RF interference which can cause a screen blank or odd flashes especially if it has a 3/4G transceiver and is getting a poor signal and then jacks up the power.

Are there any good mods for mages that let you quick select/change between your spells? Really disliked having to go back into the menu every time I wanted to use a new spell to the extent it stopped me playing the Mage class.

I'm not sure if there's a mod for it but you can bind spells (and any other item) to the number keys so you can switch between them in real time. Just put them in you favourites menu, hover the cursor over them, and press whichever number key you want it mapped to.

there is a smart spell mod that uses conditions to automatically cast them.

Good to know, but it's not that :) My phone doesn't sit near the PC/monitor and this only happens in this game.

Tbh, I just accept it as a side effect of modding and it's nothing more than just a bit annoying. It's better than a proper crash too :D
