The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

I finally decided to play out the "main" dragon quest, having been on the game off and on for nearly two months.

Bit of an anti-climax, TBH, no credits or anything to mark the achievement like you get in Fallout, you are just left in the game world to carry on.

Still it's interesting to reflect back on all the different missions and places visited over my time in the game. I know it's not really over as probably still loads to do but as always when you finish the main story the motivation to continue the side quests dries up. Time to go off and take a look at SR3 and get ready for ME3. I'll undoubtedly return to Skyrim at some point, certainly no denying the huge value for money the game has given.

Definitely agree with that, keep meaning to do the main quest but keep getting sidetracked, often for days at a time, sometimes when I'm actually on my way towards the main quest marker. This is the first proper adventure game I've played in ages. So much fun just exploring and, well adventuring, and now that I've installed a few mods they're really freshened the game up and now it looks incredible too.

I really don't understand performance in this game at all. I was running around Riverwood getting dips to around 18fps, it was unplayable. I alt-tabbed out of the game to make a cup of tea, came back 5min later and I am now running around the same area getting constant 60fps, and these are exactly the same areas, exactly the same scenes! No matter what I put on screen I can't get it to dip below 55ish! It is incredibly smooth

If only someone who knew what they were doing could get to the bottom of it!

What's GPU usage like in that area?

Looks nice ^^

Whiterun looks very bare without any trees. I went for the mod with deciduous trees.

How do I install mods from Steam Workshop? I am logged in to Steam. The Workshop shows up in the Steam browser and I have found the mod I want but can't see how I am supposed to install it?

thanks

That trees in towns mod looks awesome. What does it do to frame rates, considering that Whiterun can be a bit heavy as it is...

With Steam Workshop you "subscribe" to a mod, nothing as plebeian as "installing" a mod :). There should be a green button with subscribe on it to install the mod. Then you have to load Skyrim with the Skyrim Launcher so it downloads the mod.

Maybe a bit of FPS loss, depends really how high detail trees you have and what levels of shadows you have on.

Thanks. Why did Steam decide to use such daft terminology? I saw the Subscribe button but never thought that it really meant install.

@Wrye Bash-I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do when using that.

I tend to use NMM and then check out the load order using BOSS.

I have read that using Wrye Bash has certain advantages but I have never understood much about it. When I open it up it shows a bunch of my mods highlighted in red stating that they share the same load order as another mod but give little else to go on ot what, if anything, to change.
