The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Really recommend Immersive Environment! IMHO he has got the balance just right and it makes the game look awesome.

In the end I know visual tweaks are all very subjective but the great thing is that this mod is tiny (85kb) and takes seconds to get rid of if you dont like it. On Eyefinity and a HDTV it looks awesome. Cant wait for my console buddies to see it and weep :p

Yeah its a good one. The great thing is that using the weather commands in the console you can change its look even more! For example a nice greeny vegetation feel to a more subdued green :D

got back into the game tonight after having a big break from it and decided to get some mods on the go , some cracking stuff out there:

What is the hair mod?

You know, this is the mods and tweaks thread, so probably a good idea to list mods if you post a screen ;).

Also, have you got any face texture mods on?

ok il list them all, didnt think their would be much intested hence why i didnt list:

CBBE v3
Apachii Sky Hair
Eisen Platte Armour CBBE v3
Female face skin v1.8

i also run skse and skyui for the interface.

For those of you not using the Deadly Dragons Mod and want more of a challenge, I recommend it. Been using it for several weeks now and can't really imagine playing without it. It makes every dragon fight something close to a challenge (like they should be), adds a bunch of new dragons, adds new crafting/loot from dragons etc. However, with the new crafting and difficulty, I recommend you also use 'Weapons and Armor Fixes', 'Smithing Perks Overhaul' and 'Complete Crafting Overhaul', so that the vanilla content balances with the DD content.

Fight against Blood Dragon last night:

1) Gameplay Mods:

Deadly Dragons + PISE + Wars in Skyrim -> couldn't live without them.

Seriously, vanilla Skyrim is way too easy, try starting up a new character (an old one will be too overpowered already) with these three mods and choose Expert/Master difficulty, that's where the true RPG fans will find the essence of this game.I don't recommend Heroes and Villains for starters or higher levels of Wars in Skyrim (Rainbow and Normal are fine).

Warzones is a great mod that works well with Wars in Skyrim but alters the gameplay too much to my liking. Great for the end game though.

2) Interface:

SkyUI + Better Sorting + Categorized Favorites Menu + CFM Mods Supported
And A Quality World Map for the new world map.

3) Essential Texture Mods:

First of all, make sure you have the official HD Pack and HD Textures DLC Fix.

OR

Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized, which merges the two and optimises some textures for better performance.

Skyrim HD - 2K Textures (the largest texture mod out there, high resolution textures for pretty much anything)
Realistic Water Textures
Static Mesh Improvement Mod
Enhanced Distant Terrain
Skyrim Flora Overhaul
Bellyaches Animal and Creature Pack
Better Dynamic Snow
Glowing Ore Veins 300

Optional:

Realistic Lighting With Customization

4) Tools:

Nexus Mod Manager
Mod Organiser - NMM alternative with more options
BOSS - load order sorting

5) Resources:

Skyrim Nexus
Steam Workshop - Skyrim
Curse - Skyrim
SkyForge

Script Dragon and Sky Boost
SKSE

Skyrim Tips
IGN Guide to Skyrim
Skyrim Wiki
UESP - First Time Players Tips
Guide to Load Orders (now obsolete)

Watch this space, I'll make a comprehensive list for both new and advanced players at any level.

15 mins for a Blood Dragon. How long does an Ancient take to kill? An hour?

I'm not sure, I haven't encountered one yet :p but I haven't even got the mod on the hardest setting, which gives them 200% damage, 300% health and further extra immunities (atm they have 100% damage, 200% health and extra immunities over vanilla). Waiting until I hit level 30 for the hardest :D

@Krugga whats PISE?

ah sounds like it's more for higher levels in the game once things become a bit easy. I'll bookmark it for when I'm further in.

Nope, it works great for low level players, I'm currently rolling a level 15 archer/rogue on Expert and the game is very challenging at times but I go through just fine like with other RPGs in the past. One simple rule is to save a lot and don't go swinging your axe (in my case, bow) at everything that moves as you're going to get annihilated by the more powerful mobs.

I find that once you learn the Animal Allegiance shout the only outdoor risks in the game are high level mages and Ancient Dragons. The shout is too good and probably shouldn't exist.

I'm playing on master and know that up to now, playing with buffed mobs, would have been impossible in many instances. Even now at level 19, an Ice Wolf/Cave Bear is a challenge and can 4-5 shot me, and a pack of normal wolves (although I'm using a mod which boosts their packs to 7-8 in number and they actively 'hunt' you) can eat me in seconds :p

Could someone please explain how "load order" affects things? I havent really understood it.

What does it matter if a mod that makes torches never extinguish load before one that adds more butterflies to the game? These are things I dont understand :(
