The England Cricket Thread

You don't see Australia catastrophising and holding back decent players "just in case". Nope, all guns blazing from the start, if there are issues or injuries later, they deal with them. England just don't understand the psychological benefit of a good start and the momentum you can get from it.

Word this morning is Pat Cummins is going to miss the second test due to being deemed a close contact of a Covid positive person.
Hope so!

Well, that lightning wrapped everything up about 30 minutes early. Looking at a maximum of 29°C tomorrow, which should be much healthier for fielding.

Aggers insightfully blaming the bowling selection for a test in which England had basically lost before their bowlers had even held the ball.

Basically, "yeah the lost because of batting failures, but they'd have lost anyway because of the odd bowling selection decisions, just like I said at the start"

That terrible selection decision did not lose that game, but is contributing to losing this one. They played Leach at one of the worst grounds for spinners and he got hammered, making him unselectable for this one. They could not rest Broad and Anderson for 2 games in a row, so they had to play, so Wood misses out as they need Woakes batting. Meaning England play with 5 fast-medium right handers, and when the ball does not swing there is no point of difference. Root is not a bad part timer, but he does not build pressure.
