The England Cricket Thread

Josh Tongue looks like yet another massive unit that only manages to dolly it at military medium low to mid 80s. The same unit in Australia manages 90mph. Why can't we produce fast, fast bowlers that stay fit?

So officially speaking, fastest ever recorded delivery in test cricket was by Mitchell Starc, 99.7mph. Jofra Archer is bowling dollies you can have a cup of tea while wating for it to arrive by comparison.

Also did ball of the century IMO vs Vince, 95mph leg cutter literally unplayable.

Leach out of the ashes, I'm not sure how we replace him as there are no other obvious spin options that have anything like the right amount of experience and with stokes injury problems and the age of some of our other seamers we are definitely going to need someone who can get through a lot of overs. I'm assuming they will pick a batsman who can bowl some spin rather than picking the best spinner so someone like Ali will be in the frame, maybe even the man himself?

Yeah BBC reporting he is considering a comeback. He was little more than an uninterested passenger in his last Ashes series mind.

His batting average is under 30 in all formats of the game. In fact his test average is actually better than his T20 and sits a mighty 10 runs more than Stuart Broads.
All hail the saviour of English cricket.

I've just got Sky Sports again for the first time in about 4 years, and I'm wondering if there is a list of all the upcoming cricket games (county and international) that'll be on Sky Sports Cricket.

I'd like to watch as many Surrey games as possible along with England of course.

I'm not optimistic about England's performance against the Oz bowling attack in the Ashes.

English bowling squad for the Ashes:

Ben Stokes (injuries, slow)
Moeen Ali (out of retirement, all rounder)
James Anderson (injuries, in 40s)
Stuart Broad (slow)
Matthew Potts (slow)
Ollie Robinson (slow)
Josh Tongue (promising but not express pace)
Chris Woakes (slow)
Mark Wood (rapid but always injured and won't bowl too many overs)

Australian bowling attack against India:

Cameron Green
Pat Cummins
Mitchell Starc
Nathan Lyon
Scott Boland

The plucky Australian underdogs have scraped their way to victory over the best Indian lineup we've seen all month!

I think you're probably overestimating the importance of pace in English conditions. Yes, it's useful, but the bowlers who usually rock up here and perform are those who move it sideways.

Edit: that said, Australia have an outrageous attack, and Cummins is on another level at the moment. Even he's more of a control bowler though - like a taller McGrath

Hope so, but it's not like Starc etc. don't move the ball, they just do it at 90mph and have just demolished India in English conditions.

I actually think that we will lose this series 3-0 and the stupid phrase "Bazball" will hopefully be sent to pasture.

The counties show many of their matches on YouTube since Sky can’t cover them all.
