I was hoping Jimmy would get his 700 wickets this series, which might be his swansong?
He has said he's not going to retire but surely the selectors need to move on. I can't see much point in taking him to India then we've got the Windies and Sri Lanka next summer, those are series we need to be blooding the future.
 
Broad announced his retirement on Sky.

Thought he might go on as long as Jimmy did!

Time to put Mr Warner in his pocket one more time ;)

Real shame but understandable with young family and will help England bed new blood. Think getting to 600 has helped that decision
 
Shame to see Broad announce his retirement wonder if this will make Anderson have a think about retiring aswell. Nearly impossible to replace what those two have given to England over the years.
 
262 the highest successful run chase at the Oval and that was in like 1902!

Feel reasonably confident this is gonna be a last hurrah for Broady.
I don't - nothing in the air, and they've got enough good players to stick around.

We should win, but I think it'll get hairy. I wouldn't bet against a Smith ton
