If I gave you £500 and then took £300 back would you say that I gave you £500?

And do you struggle when you're shopping and there are offers on?

Yes i would say you gave me £500 and then I gave you back £300. The fact you are given some back doesn't change the fact you were given the £500 in the first place.

Remain need to put some big hitters up after that, come across clueless and as someone else said play the ball not the man, farage & Boris want to do this blah blah blah, if the public vote for it so be it.

Leave won that country mile impressed by the Red leave lass, worst of the lot that little screeching Eagle.

Remain won't go Achilles v Hector.

Loonie Labour bint spends the whole debate personally attacking Bojo, then in her summing up says it's nothing to do with Bojo...
Best debate so far.

I assume they are doing a post-debate analysis of the performances on the news again, like they did after Tuesdays debate. Will be interesting to see how the analysts rate the two groups performances tonight

According to fullfact, (and the treasury) the rebate is an instant discount, so we don't give them £350M to then get a refund some point at a later date,

It's like saying I'll give you £500, but you already owe me £200, so I'll send you £300.

It doesn't seem that complicated or obtuse to me

Because he is doing it as he wants to become PM. Now a few little lies here and there might be expected as an MP, but when your lies can and will possibly affect this country for years to come which you are only doing to further your own political career is fundamentally wrong.

He is playing with this country's entire future for his own gains and only for his own gains.

You think that is acceptable?

It is absolutely not acceptable - but alas it is par for the course with politicians, of every persuasion. He'll never be held accountable, so what does he have to lose? He could potentially become PM. Everything else is just platitudes to further himself. He is a populist, not an idealist.

What's surprising is that your surprised at this.

Nate

Let's turn that around, because you're confusing the example. I will not give you £500 at all.

Ok then, you don't give me £500 where you previously gave me £500 and I bought you £300 of stuff you needed.

So you stop giving me £500 and instead you buy your £300 of stuff you need.

Have you saved £500?

This isn't that challenging, it doesn't take a genius to see right through the £350m claim which is inaccurate even if it were just a figure of initial outlay. The only way you can possibly claim that you're saving the entire EU contribution is to not send any funding to the areas that benefit from the rebate, but it becomes impossible to then also claim that you're some sort of friend of public services and make an emotive hospital building argument.
