I know the EU\UK didn't like people who worked long hours. They even labelled us. When the WDT came in.

My hours started to drop. Then they got cheap labour to do the over time and that was the end of that.

You've got it all arse about elbow and making conspiracy connections that aren't there to reinforce your views.

The working time directive is there to stop companies forcing employees to work long hours, but you can voluntarily opt out. Strengthening workers rights whilst still giving you your own choices....what's bad about that?

Just because businesses, in this example retail, realised that 7 days shopping was becoming the norm and figured out ways to reduce their wage costs has nothing to do with the EU

So far all of these polls I've come across shows "out" taking the lead. Hopefully it stays that way :P

Sometimes you need a little chaos so natural order can be found :D

It's his opinion, there are plenty of opposite ones...no-one knows, hence all these headlines are scaremongering crap, I thought we were all against that? Oh right, yea, not the ones on our side of the fence

In his new book.....

Oh, you got a new book out Merv, I didn't know that, wait I do now you've said a controversial headline and got yourself into the news....

*standard crap*

I never said they were still on double time, i said they get 1.5x from the start and that double pay is outdated and by discretion of corporations. I didn't say everyone should get paid the same but premiums relative to their base pay should be the same, but you obviously cant comprehend basic maths given past responses.

You say i sound like the guy who believes everything the government say but i worked first hand for that company and know for a fact why they reduced pay. It was due to complaints that some people had much larger premiums despite being in the same position working the same hours with the same base pay. The graph i posted earlier contradicts all your claims of higher pay in the 90s as it is normalised to include cost of living.

Now you just sound like the guy who wants to play the victim and feels hard done by because the harder working are getting prioritised over the lazy.

Chuck away your tinfoil hat and move on, don't expect people to privileged you for being British as it counts for naught in a society where the hard working opportunists thrive.

Foreign investment from companies that use the UK as a gateway to EU trading as well as UK companies that rely on small sales eu trade rely on our current eu relationship and generate plenty of jobs. I am not scared of having the next bloke off a boat taking my job because i know it wont happen. Your proof of pay being cut due to immigration is a cut in holiday premiums? lol give me a break, you telling me maybe immigrants only work Sundays?

Don't forget vat.

^

Clearly someone who thinks VAT is charged on wages has little to no credibility when to talking finance. Go wiki VAT and come back embarrassed trying to tell me that you meant it in some other indirect way which has a significantly low impact on wages.

Consequences Mr Holland....

So France will let all immigrants gather up around Calais and let them live as they please on there attempt to enter the UK. Great new for everyone living in Calais, the truck companies will find its not worth the trouble and go upto Holland where we could work out a deal.

Errr that is the current situation!

I wonder how long you've been saying this :p

I'm the same, whenever I want sound, impartial financial news I go to breitbart as well, lol

Everyone should be more worried about a Chinese economic meltdown before a European one, that will take us all out :p

Probably ever since his dream of BNP ruling in Westminster fizzled with their shoddy finances.:p:D

Re BB articles: Ach nein! Pass me ze schnapps!:o

Also lol China, I hope it doesn't, but if it sputters to a halt, our great Eastern re-alignment hope goes with it... amongst other things.

This from the same nation who we liberated only 70 years ago, hilarious really.

I never said there was vat on wages, how did you make that jump. Just i said look at vat it was part of the agreement for us to join the common market, UK used to have purchase tax at 10% vat ended up hitting items that were never taxed.

On the second note look at the loss of overtime rate you posted from double to nothing by 2005 I wonder why was that....
Double pay outdated but 1.5 pay is an update yer for the company not the worker, then it introduced lower and lower rates till zero.

Now you think it's about competition yes competition for lower wages and worse Customer service.
Look at this country it's falling apart everyone is trying to cut corners people/ workers in this country used to feel proud about there workmanship now they don't give a toss, it's about hire the cheapest worker, and accept poor quality. I've stood my ground on this I will not pay or be blackmailed to accepting poor quality, even when they said I was difficult etc.. Everything does not last anymore.
Britain is the laughing stock of EU, we have zero say, we don't have any EU institutions in our soil, and never will, we. Stick to the rules while other countries don't. When Germany said all borders should be opened then a month later they closed there's which is against EU rules but tell Greece off when they do the same and threatened them with sanctions etc.. Just shows the the UK has no voice and is just following Germany.
A one tire system based on German's economy has destroyed southern states economy.
UK used to be one of the best engineering counties building nuclear power stations we lost that because of the Eu.

I don't think the French "threatening" the UK will help the "in" campaign

They clearly want us in.. Only as we contribute.

I hate that most of both sides of the campaign (particularly the in) using almost all fear tactics.

I've started to see a few say the eurozone is doomed and that was my sentiment early on. Began to doubt it but it's a potential at this point, the failures of the EU are starting to pile up and it's sad to see but they are so slow at handling any issue we may as well just give up hope on them.

'Mr Davutoglu repeated that they expected the opening of new chapters for Turkey's longstanding EU membership bid and progress on visa-free travel to the EU for Turkish citizens.'

Turkey pretty much have there prize in sight for helping with the migration crisis. Don't think I want to see what happens if they join though with Erdogan's level of corruption. Feel this is the clincher for me, TTIP and Turkey along with getting back sovereignity is enough reasons. I'll still keep my mind open up until the point of the vote but I've got enough reasons to vote out or in at the moment.
