Like they did with plastic bag s.

Isn't that the environmental protection measure that's doing rounds worldwide, and was backed by our MEPs, legislated for by our MPs from a directive into law, and is supported by DEFRA and the Daily Mail?

Why it was introduced:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...eres-a-5p-charge#benefits-why-theres-a-charge
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...mean-countries-forced-bring-charges-bans.html

It was a big campaign overall, and we were in on it. You found a fun bit of legislation to pick on, pinkpill. From my understanding small vendors and retailers are exempt, ie your chippy doesn't have to charge you 5p for the newspaper or a paper bag, lol.

However, as for packaging in general, someone, somewhere always pays for it. For example: the disposable coffee cup you get in Costa is costed in advance, and this cost is included in the price of the coffee. Big retailers offset their 'free plastic bags' cost elsewhere in the shopping process, just like they do with certain BOGOF offers and reduced items; now it's transparent, pardon the pun.

Some shops are charging based on size of bag.

Not being funny mate but the price of a carrier bag is **** all to do with what is happening and what will happen if we stay in the EU.

Don't care about minimum wage, carrier bags or eco friendly **** the EU shoves down our necks.

The is much bigger issue involved that I see. ;)

1. We vote our MPs', we don't vote for all of the MEPs'. That allows us to hold them accountable in a general election for their decisions, we can't do that if MEPs from other countries make decisions we disagree with.
2. We're a top 10 Global economy, people will always want to trade with us.
3 It has to do with us being a large economy and making sensible choices
4. Scotland and Wales are part of the United Kingdom, it's not them and us.
5. We do stand up for ourselves, we're just largely ignored as the EU seems to mostly about Germany and France running the rest of the Europe and using our money in the process
6. Sure the US will say they'd prefer us as part of the EU, but go ask the US to join a Political union and allow other countries to decide their laws, they'd laugh in your face

We don't vote for all our MP's. I have zero say in anyone but my constituency.

We are large economy yes, but much of that is thanks to the EU membership. We'd do OK without, but better with.

See above.

Scotland wants to stay in. We can't ignore that. ( and won't, they get a vote, obviously)

EU needs reform, I agree. But we can't do that from the outside.

US, I think, is a touch bigger than the UK (don't quote me, can't be bothered buying a trundle wheel). But even they are arrangements with its neighbours that influence policy.

Pretty much what he said :-)
Andi.

Great, so they have the freedom to set a charge they feel is appropriate. They are not bound by law to charge at the minimum 5p rate for all bags. And if it's a big issue for you locally, I recommend writing your retailer a complaint, and enquiring re reasons for the different charging levels. I'm sure one of their customer relations people would be happy to talk you through their reasoning.

Labour MP Wes Streeting asked Lord Rose whether "if free movement was to end after Brexit, isn't it reasonable to suppose we could see increases in wages for low-skilled workers in the UK just off the back of the economic impact of free movement on wages?"

Lord Rose replied: "If you are short of labour, the price of labour will go up. So yes, but that is not necessarily a good thing."

So there you have it, the head of the In Campaign admitting a suppression of wages for those at the bottom is not only in effect but is, by inference, a "good thing"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-35712184

...I suppose it isn't "necessarily a good thing" if you're a millionaire shop keeper looking for a never-end trails of people willing to work for minimum wage.

Just get out the **** shop and pick up the pieces afterwards. ;)

It really is not worth it pro EU crowd.

Plus credentials fall when one is a special in the police and most EU in crowd have been on a common purpose course or are indoctrinated oh sorry, I mean university educated.

You can bet your arse on it. ;)

I would rather be on my arse than be told what to do by nobody.

I like how some car company's are telling their employees that leaving the EU could cause job losses and uncertainty..this to me is scaremongering.

I think people are really under estimating the UKs ability to work on our own without the EU.

Even though i will vote OUT,Im skeptic..i think votes will be rigged.

If we vote out there will be another vote until the establishment get the right answer.

When someone trys to scare someone else into getting their way you know that person will lose out, I think car company's will lose out big if the UK leaves, I think it will be the opposite. It will benefit workers and not the car manufacturers, they will take a hit they can't afford to abandon the UK.

Vote out to raise your living standards and reduce your housing costs.

Do you think the EU will actually survive to the UK in/out vote?

Things are going seriously pear shaped in the east, and it is only going to get worse in the "Months" to come!

I do think there will be a domino effect if the uk votes out

The whole French immigration blackmail of bull, to leave a country you have to show your passport. If they did allow immigrants to travel to the UK. Then the UK should sent them back on the same day.

Eu needs UK more than UK needs Eu, if the UK leaves then the richer nations will have to pay more. Germany will end up leaving the EU.

UK is the 2d largest by far net contributer to the Eu,once that goes other net contribution nations will have to cover it, they not like it.

There was a thread about the strength of the pound, but it was closed and redirected to here. Not sure what this thread has to do with the strength of the pound, but though I would ask!!
