That isn't what happened at all and even if it was I'm not sure how it 'proves your point'.

The emissions scandal is complex but at the heart of it was the use of a defeat device to get around the US's particularly unique and incredibly stringent NOX rules, which other manufacturers have had to use Urea injection systems to comply with yet VW apparently managed without. It was later found that a similar principle was present in EU market cars but of course as the regulations were less strict it's as yet unclear whether it's had any real effect and the whole thing rumbles on. Either way, it isn't a specific failing of the EU and I cannot see how it is relevant.

If anything the EU emissions standards are another benefit - we have a Europewide set of standards which is far better for consumers and manufacturers than having 28 different sets of standards to comply with!

WHAT!
As I've said the yanks found them cheating and not anyone in the EU did till after.
Also VW will recall 8.5 million cars in Europe, including 2.4 million in Germany and 1.2 million in the UK.

I'm just showing how crap the EU is.

No2) I don't use an accountant, and neither do a lot of SMBs, meaning it is more work for them. It also means ive had to create and implement a system at my own expense to meet the requirements of the law, remind me a gain, who reimbursed me for the time and cost of implementing a law into my business I never voted on, and neither did anyone in this countries parliament?

Do you foresee our accounting and record-keeping standards being significantly different after we've left?

How does any of that show 'how crap the EU' is

If we pull out, those laws will still exist if MR Dyson wants to flog is hoovers into mainland Europe.

As above, those rules will still be inplace for anyone who wants to sell into Europe.

Actually, the real issue is the fact that we can't go direct to the Eu for cash for flood defences as any request needs to go through the UK government.

The EU wants to impose tariffs on cheap Chinese imports, the Conservatives oppose this.

Fox owned you on that.

Good for Mr Dyson, at least here he could offer me a hoover I can suck up next doors cat from my house with.

Rules which shouldnt even be in place for small businesses.

I also believe its part of the policy which also means we aren't able to flood areas of land upstream we want to to prevent downstream issues.

Realistically though he isn't going to, is he? The reality is that most products will continue to be designed to EU standards because the population of the EU is 10 times larger than the population of the UK. It is therefore probably not cost effective to design a separate product for us, we'll get the EU compliant ones anyway.

Considering the UK will no longer be part of the same customs union, I foresee a significant increase in paperwork! Customs duty, etc. Nightmare!

Anyway, why wouldn't you have an accountant? Surely time spent doing quarterly VAT returns, amongst other things, could be better spent on your business? Are accountant fees not deductible expenses in the UK?

Maybe part of the reason Kendai is so bitter is because he hasn't got an accountant to help him and his business pay less tax ;)

But at least we have the option available to us, which, isn't that the whole reason for this referendum?

People want the UK to have the option, and not just be blindly told by Brussels.

Just like we will continue to get EU compliant, well pretty much everything really. :D

Cash in hand, no written proof, that's the way... that's the way on the dark, mEEEAAAAan streets... *grabs coat*

I can imagine walking around Currys a few years after an Out vote..

'So all these hoovers conform to EU rules, but hey, we all voted 'Out' so at least the vacuum cleaner manufacturers could have made mega powerful ones if they wanted'

:D

Latest Miele C3 is so powerful that it has power settings and if you leave it on max it lifts the carpet :D

Restrictions that seem arbitrary often breed innovation. Would we have cars as efficient as we do today without forcing manufacturers through legislation?

At first the Out boys were like: 'Come at us bros, we've got the truth!'

Then they saw the stats, and said: 'Nah, we spin our own way...'

'... but we still want a sweet deal with that minx EU!'

Quality banter!

If we leave, it's going to be a pain in the butt for a lot of things, things like new driving licence (it has a EU flag), new passport. That alone is another £150.

You actually fell for the driving licences scam!

I have some piece of paper somewhere around saying I can drive.

No photo no nothing, not even the right address.

F`u I can drive and it cost me a good few hundred quid, prove me wrong.

Screw the EU and screw anyone that wants to be in it. ;)
