The first "proper" Kepler news Fri 17th Feb?

It's short. But that's because it's not in the class of the GTX 580 no matter what they call it. 580 was high-end Fermi. The 680 is designed to be mid-range Kepler. Being the fastest card when it's released by virtue of being the only card does not make it high end, because 'GK104 is the fastest kepler GPU' is only vacuously true.

And your statement is not even vacuously true at all, as nothing has been confirmed yet. The 480 was the best Fermi GPU they could make at the time, the same may happen with the 680. Just because the process can dictate the limit of the size and performance of the GPU does not mean "therefore it's only mid-range, because it's not what they intended", that's nonsense. If it is the best they can manufacture at the time, it is their high-end offering at that time.

Well you are the one who keeps reiterating that Kepler is going to be useless. It's rather tiring. You have no idea what the card will be like until it's released. So please, dear, desist.

I don't think it's tiring. It's his opinion and he is quite welcome to it.

Just like some keep banging on about how it's going to be marvellous and cost very little and really put AMD in their place.

I don't bother visiting other areas of the forum as I like this one the best. It has the most discussion and tbh? offers a far wider variety of discussion and debate given that graphics cards usually come with all of the juicy bits that leave lots of room for discussion debate and opinions.

Nice part is that no one truly turns out to be right or wrong as there's just no way of knowing and it's that mystery element that keeps it interesting.

Telling some one to go away is like telling them they're not entitled to their opinion.

Which is wrong.

Stacking the PCI-E power connectors is about the dumbest thing I've seen, your average muppet will be able to break the board/track bond far to easily...besides the mounting for "board level" connector is there anyway !

+ blocking half the cooler exhaust with another DVI is also about as intelligent !

also what about people wanting to water cool there card and make it single slot ?

I think the cost comment is probably quite valid. It's unlikely these will be cheap. In my opinion you would be an absolute mug to buy one of these on launch day.

Like 7xxx owners?

You might think people are mugs but the value of money and what it buys differs for everyone.

If you cannot afford a card at release day price points that is your problem. If you can afford to but do not see value that is your prerogative.

You, however, do not have the card on release day. Those who see different to you, do.
