The first "proper" Kepler news Fri 17th Feb?

I thought that the PhysX test was removed from the latest version of 3DMark?

So they could be using an older one?

I know the Physx "cheat" for the CPU score has been removed from Vantage. No idea if they have changed 3DM11 to suit.

This 40% that keeps floating about has been for ages. Apparently in Physx applications the card is 40% faster. But I have already shown what happens when you run Physx on a Radeon.

Basically I ran Metro 2033 benchmark with Physx disabled. Then I enabled it, guess what? 40% slower because it was making my CPU crap its guts out of its mouth. That doesn't come as a surprise.

We all know nVidia deliberately crippled PhysX on CPUs by using x87 code. We all know that in games sponsored by nVidia that performance will be questionable on AMD cards, often with Crossfire entirely absent or offering virtually no scaling (Batman: Arkham City being a good example). And we all know that just because nVidia is allegedly claiming a 40% - and the source of the information is far from reliable - it doesn't mean the card will actually deliver that.

That said, it all comes down to value for money. If doesn't matter if it's the same speed as the 7970 as long as it's cheaper; if it's faster then nVidia will obviously charge to reflect that. We've apparently only got a few more days to wait so we'll soon see.

hopefully we can get some real info very shortly, and then i can make an informed decision about what to get when i buy my system (ive waited this long for ivy, if it looks good enough ill wait for kepler)
