The first "proper" Kepler news Fri 17th Feb?

I'm just looking forward to seeing some proper reviews so we can all decide where to spend our cash in the coming month/s and stop second guessing. I have no allegiance to either camp, I just want whichever performs best to my needs and wallet.

I am concerned about the rumour of solid dx11 p rformance but crappy dx10 or 9. Dx11 hasnt taken over the market just yet so that is bad news.

Have to wait and see though. Not impressed just yet that could change though when concrete info comesa along.

So the new "Brush Bios" allows Nvidia to gain a 40% increase over the 7970...Looks like Nvidia will be making a "clean sweep" of the GPU section. :D

Cmon, somebody had to.

So it's apparently 10% faster in some titles, but the accusation is that this is in games that use nVidia middleware - i.e. PhysX - and that they're simply unblocking restrictions, rather than competing fairly. And in other titles the performance will be considerably less than the 7970. So the performance will be a bit of a minefield and you'll have to look carefully to see whether reviews are objective or simply sticking to nVidia's PR approved games list. And we won't see reviews until the end of the month. :(

As always, it comes down to price. But it will need to be considerably cheaper than the 7970 if the performance is as hit and miss as suggested. I highly doubt the rumours of it costing $299 but nVidia would dominate if that were the case.

Well as we all know it's still speculation.

At the moment, some are saying it's going to be the mid-range card, while still being called the GTX 680. That name alone will confuse many people thinking it's the High-end.

Others say there's a magical Bios that boosts performance 40%.

Eitherway TAC4U is right, it all comes down to price.

If it's only 10% faster and names the GTX 680, I expect NV to price it around the same as the 7970.

This whole thing of $299 for the card sounds exactly like the rumors about the 7970 before it came out. Although many people expected AMD to follow a similar pricing scheme as with the 58xx and 69xx cards.

Although knowing Nvidia, if the card is faster. Expect a high price until they get their other cards out.

The GTX 480 was a prime example, they priced that far too high even though it was faster. It wasn't until the 580 that the flagship launched cheaper than the previous one.

All these rumors and speculation is fun and all, but I say just wait for some official word from Nvidia before getting your hopes up folks.

I highly doubt the first Kepler card will cost about £299 at launch if it can best the 7970.
Although if I'm wrong, that's good news for everyone.

I would have been more impressed if they just named it GTX660 ti @ 250 pounds and launched that. That would mean the midrange card would be as fast or faster then AMD high end

One way or another this is going to turn the GFX card market on it's head !

It certainly seems like it will be called a GTX680 so there is no way really it will be slower than a GTX580, Surely

You know I was sure Nvidia was planing some double chip boards which I based on the fact they have been changing board layouts and power connectors etc.. but I don't know now and like everybody else Look forward to some real Game max & min fps.

Think we really need to know more about the GK110 before decisions are made about which card to get..for me anyway ;)
