US: The Flash (2014)

Arrow, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow I have just never gotten into. I don't know if I should start these or not

From what I can tell all these shows suffer from very variable quality, just like Flash. Some episodes, storylines and characters will be great, and then you'll spend time on the verge of giving up in frustration at how it's lost its way.

Legends embraces the cheesey nonsense that it is, so while it is equally as bad as the others it is more enjoyable because they do not take themselves seriously.

Arrow is worth watching the first season - it was pretty damn awesome. After that he became a pansy and had an ever expanding team and it just got worse and worse. But definitely watch the first season then pretend it was cancelled.

Supergirl season 1 is a slog, season 2 was much better, and 3 has been really good, probably my fave of the bunch of the current CW superhero lineup.

Flash has gone downhill fast lately. Arrow lost its way after Season 2. LoT is just nuts (but at least its self aware).

Love all 4 shows but then am a super hero fan, at the end of the day all tv shows and movies will have their faults and while flash has got a bit boring with "speedsters" each season or so its still doing a good job. And its hard to argue when they are crossing over to 4 different tv shows. I hear black lighting will not be doing so and may not actually be set in the same universe which is odd.

At the end of the day we are not gonna get a batman or proper superman tv series due to movie/studio rights but I feel we got a decent set up at least.

Any fan may wish to check out this site:

It gives a series run order with all 4 shows, arrow, flash, lot and supergirl.

I don't think anyone is hanging hopes on Batman or proper Superman show. In fact, most were perfectly happy with what we got. I think the issue is that the quality of the shows we do have seems to have plummeted. Arrow season 1 was fantastic, season 2 was also decent....then it just went horribly wrong.
It seems the tv super hero shows cannot resist 2 really annoying habits:

1) Having the heroes become part of an ever expanding team, a consequence being that the main hero seems to somehow become more feeble to justify the need of this big team of hangers on

2) Always have to overdo the teen drama relationship side of things. Most are watching these shows for the super hero factor, no one wants to dwell excessively on their love lives.

Both of them in the meeting room at the courthouse.

Why doesnt he just snap defoe's neck.

As comedies go, that trial was hilarious!

Exactly - Devoe 'wouldn't see it coming' and he could get rid of the body no time. Plus the wife would get really irked not knowing what happened.

other thing

As if they'd let him out on house arrest when its virtually a nailed on case from the start

Then the prosecutor goes on about Barry being a forensic cop, if he was that good then he'd have cleaned up the obvious evidence.

That 'trial' was ******* laughable, but lets be honest the entire show has become a joke recently. Also, does radiation not work the same way in Central City as it does everywhere else? Or are they just going to brush the long agonising deaths of countless people under the rug and pretend like it never happened?

Last few episodes haven't been too bad. I'd given it a miss for the last 4 weeks or so. Caught up last night and things are getting a bit more interesting.

Yes, why doesn't the titular hero just be a murderer?

Agree with this he is the good guy and the 'hero' after all, plus Devoe had engineered a situation where is his disappearance would have been suspicious anyway. Yes, the story isn't plot perfect, but it's certainly improved recently.

He's not Oliver Queen he's Barry, the super goody. Still, he could have at least punched him across the room to make himself feel better.

The courtroom scenes were a bit of a farce though. Sure, I don't expect legally accurate scenes from a superhero show, but Barry being given bail when he's a murder suspect, allowed a phone in court and then allowed to leave to deal with a 'personal matter' were all laughable.

So was the swift movement from 'OMG she's having an affair' (which was a pretty solid motive) to the swiftly forgotten about 'Oh your husband said it was OK to screw him' with a quick cry and coverup story and the jury thinks that's fine! Yup, totally credible storytelling.

I can suspend disbelief about a man that can run back in time but the court scenes from last week and this week's prison scenes are just hilarious.

  • Does every prison have the warden personally come down and tell an inmate they have a visitor?
  • Confused where the gym is; one minute it's inside the next Big Surl is benching outside
  • The bad guy in prison couldn't bully a school playground
  • Goofy villain of the week - right so blowing up cars in a busy city warrants no attention from law enforcement. One bullet would have ended him

Still love the show though :D
