7.5s in 3rd, not too shabby.

That's from a rolling 30 and then flooring it and actual 30mph to 70mph as I know by how much the speedo overreads and so compensated for it.

Did a wee vid of the 172 on the phone and in 3rd its 7sec roughly doubt more than that though, its hard to tell on the phone.

Only 6sec if I cheat and use 2nd and 3rd though

i may cheat and do a 2nd and 3rd later, although it'll still be slow as hell

your right there mate, my rover 600 diesel only just did it in 3rd, imposable in 2nd.
i timed mine in 3rd at 9.47s
then in 4th at 11.10s(not that good as it was below were the turbo kicks in, so had to wait for that to spinup), then 3rd changing in to 4th at 9.75s.
can people put what car they have got in the posts, as some havent

my mates punto diesel (Barton on these forums) wil do 80 in 3rd absolutley screaming, the 9secs 30-70 run was done in 3rd

does seem strange Gibbo's apparent time, see link below, the reported 2.8 secs is faster than F50, GT2 911, diablo 5.7 SE, Viper GTS-R, etc etc etc.

My next car (Focus ST, currently in Belgium somewhere) is quoted at 6.5s, which seems slow compared to other figures mentioned.

That is slow, Rover 220 Turbos have a time of 5.6sec and they have less power and torque.
No idea what mine is and im not gonna guess as it's pretty pointless.

got distracted by an M3 and a 528 on the way home. so didnt get a chance to do a 2nd gear timed run. will have to report back tomorrow.

edit- looking it up its 4.3secs
