What’s the collection day?

Is there actually anything in these parcels or are they just dummy packages?

What value have you declared on the customs paperwork?

A shame given your F1 and motorsport slant that you couldn’t also use DHL as they’re a major sponsor of F1. I’d also loved to have seen parcelforce too.

I went UPS. For some reason I don’t think FedEx Europe is the same as FedEx US and they’ve withdrawn from Europe (might have been just the UK) a coupe of times in the past so I dint know how good their network is.

The 28th is when they were scheduled to be picked up.

Gifts, nothing that should cause customs a problem. Value around 200 quid each.

Oh….then I will might have to change my guess to FedEx.

£200 means above £135 limit. FedEx will deliver and invoice VAT/Duty later, that is their workflow. I know UPS only just starting doing it recently…

Isn't that going to make a difference? I have no idea what the customs threshold is for Switzerland but if the parcels are going to incur duty/tax then that needs to be factored in because each company may handle it differently.

Not sure being a sponsor would help. I used to work for a DHL owned company so had contacts in global forwarding. Still the largest logistics company in the world could't manage to sort out shipping a motorcycle to Argentina.

Isn't that part of the test though? Some might sit there doing nothing then send a letter a week laters, other might be proactive and contact the receiver as soon as get hold of the package.

Interesting that FedEX and TNT are the same company. I always thought DPD owned shares in TNT given they both use the same tracking software.

My vote if with UPS. Shame DHL weren't in there. It is usually my go to courier for cross boarder stuff. When you do DHL though you always have to use Express. That is the only way they actually use their own services at the other end rather than just using the national courier.

I learned the hard way and lost a shock absorber in Peru as the national carrier was on strike. It was made worse by the fact that later in my trip my shock absorber snapped in two, not once but twice.

The DHL package arrived back in Netherlands about 3 months later.
FedEx acquired TNT in 2016.

There is no relationship between DPD and FedEx/TNT - DPD is a French company, they started off as the "Chronopost" brand of LaPoste.

It's all owned by FedEx. One of the main reasons for FedEx purchasing TNT was to allow FedEx to be competitive in Europe, since TNT has an established and largely owned road and air network within Europe.

UPS are the only ones who demand payment on delivery for duty/vat payments here… all others send an invoice within 2 weeks.

DHL are actually still on holiday today anyway, my daughter has had an express parcel from Sweden sat in customs (cleared) from the 23rd due to them actually giving their staff a decent Christmas break :D. Although I think the couple of days before Christmas might actually have been just slow, should be here tomorrow if it moves overnight.

I'll go DPD, as they were always the quickest to move Kickstarter parcels around Europe back when I could afford to back games :p.
