The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

MSI's coolers are defo quieter than Gigabyte's from past experience. EVGA sounds like it's in between.

G1 has 3x75mm fans, ACX2.0 has 2x85mm fans, MSI Gaming has 2x100mm fans

just on that basis alone it looks like the G1 has the potential to be the whiniest of the three, but to be honest we are probably talking about 50mhz difference in OC for a given noise/annoyance level

So do tell, those who were lucky to get one already. Are they worth it? :D

Nah, they suck...

No, really, they are awesome!

Of course, the cards drivers are not perfect, but coming from Trifire 290X.... well, things pretty much just work!

I will have issues of course, as nothing is perfect.

But it's great to be back on green!

"Hi,

at those who have the EVGA GTX 980 TI SC ACX 2.0: Can you tell me please which temperature you reach at 100% fan and 100% GPU load? Is the card then loud?"

"I have two of those. They are pretty loud actually. 100% is obnoxiously loud and you would never want that for extended periods. Over 70% starts to get really noticeable. With 1 card and fans at 70% you are looking at temps in the 69- 72 range at max load. Honestly Id personally go for a different card if I could do it again. Maybe the Windforce or wait for others."

I hope you have a better experience with the ACX 2.0.

This needs to be deleted before Agnes sees it ;)

Agnes i wonder why didn't you pick Hybrid if your main concern is noise .

1) My budget was £550 to start with, it creeped to £620 with the G1, then went back down to £600 for the ACX 2.0

2) I have a tiny case, Lian Li, no room for a dead rat once the GPU is in, let along a rad

3) If I were to go down the watercooling route, I'll do it properly. Don't like all this 'hybrid' stuff. I guess that's because I'm old school coming from the days when I used to moderate a watercooling forum lol.

Whilst on the note, I am looking into the notion of going watercooled again... Maybe... I'll see, need to find a case I like first. It will be another few hundred squideroos out of my back pocket at least though

Get yourself the Coolermaster HAF X. The best case I have ever used. Hands down. Your GPU will thank you for it.

Ugh, so the ACX is loud. How loud is the reference design in comparison? Any advice as I could just go over to the SC reference and then put this sorry thing to bed as the SC reference is currently in stock.

Its worth noting I have 4 Noctua fans in my case currently alongside a Noctua CPU cooler so would this help with temperatures/airflow?

So, you have the ACX? Or you just going off what others have said?
