How on earth you guys actually managed to donwload this is beyond me, I'm hitting a legendary 0.01kb/s at the moment... literally! 17hours left according to the download, and I've already been downloading since 12pm :(
 
Just had my first proper play of this, and promptly paid the $12.99 :D

Shot 4 in my debut hunt, none very big though. Need practice! Where is a good place to find the elk?

It varies I find....Try logging back in again, mine started off slow for ages, then suddenly picked up again...servers are no doubt being flooded with new recruits again :p
 
I selected a "Toggle direct download" option in the file menu or sumin, and it started downloading at 400kb/s, its downloaded and working now... strange.

Anyway, that could all be a waste of time, cos I cannot see a way to change the key config? No way can I play with dodgy WASD, is there a way to change it? Or are you lumbered with the default settings?

mate just got a 1044lb elk

i had a 1045 lb one in sights but i shot him and he ran off :(
 
Mine was at about 7kb then shot up to 300 about 30 mins ago and is finished now, just going to eat dinner then im going to have a go.
 
having real trouble finding the damn elk anywhere...they really should have giving us a call for the damn things, and that damn rifle is sooo wrong its stupid, but boy it does drop whitetail and mules very quickly even with a very bad shot, the drop.

Some people need to lower the graphics settings or something to see the red circles easier =/....

It can take a while to find a trail though.

Do the deer call as well, just hold it down untill it stops, you get a response every so often....don't over do it though :p
 
Successfuly tracked a dear now and am searching the cone. I'm walking everywhere crouched at the mo which should be enough i presume? What are the blue and green bars that flicker on the huntermate?
 
do you HAVE to follow a trail? Say I hung out proned with my rifle poised in a popular deer area, would a deer randomly stroll along? Or does the game require you to follow a trail for a deer to be spawned?
 
easiest way of getting a deer or other animal is to go to the big meadow just above the tipppeeee :p

theres a meadow just coming off it aswell

also theres a black square on the map which a dtone like henge.


i dont actually follow tracks much now cause thy lie sometimes :p

just get to a nice area or tree stand and call with turkey caller or deer caller few times and wait.often they will either pop out or call.

when they call press b for binos and look directly at the noise.often the animal will be in view or very near.


elk love the middle lake and i often go there first as they seem to love water a lot.look in the weed beds like bull rushes on the shore as they hide in them .

then i shot him after :p



also you will see them a sleep aswell.lying down.
