funny thing is as soon as the gun went from my inventary within less than 5 mins! the first thing i saw was a massive bull elk just standing in the road .it did not run like normally would and i didnt hide or try and creep up on it.this suggests to me that they have implemented something in the game but cant prove it obviously.
i did take the next one down with my other sniper rifleuneffical pffftt .

First hunt after I got the rifle, within 2 min of leaving the lodge I had a group of 5 male Elk. I have never seen them that close to the lodge before.
I'm now seeing male Elk everywhere. Last 4 hunts I haven't even got close to the lake as there's been too much on the way. Odd.

So did you guys buy a new gun?
I did. Not a new one though, the .30-06 which we had through the warden "trial" period.
nope ive not decided yet whether to.
i might do though just cause the things i kill most is elk and at moment all my gaming is boring except this
so im kinda of forced into getting it.which i dont like to be.
on a lighter note just been hunting and got a 575ft mule bull.

Its really not that expensive:
As low as 3.75 per month for all licenses and ammo, and 3 of the guns. As much as 5.
= £2.50 to £3.30 per month.
+ optional content required for elk (I think these are right):
$4.50 for Elk gun = £3.
$0.90 for Elk call = 60p.
£2.50 per month to play, a one off of £3.60 for elk equipment...
And its continually developed, receives decent updates, gets some fun community drive with the leaderboards and stats pages and season trophies, missions competitions etc.
Well it's damned reasonable imo, even in a whole year it will cost me less than a retail game, and the continued updates will likely keep me interested much longer too.
I won't be crying about the prices, the devs must be living on rice and peas with these rates!!
Anyway, to each his own and I hope you do keep playing because it's nice to have people on the friends list

its not that expensive but the reason i dont like it is the gun isnt worth paying for .the only reason to buy it is cause theres no other ethnical elk gun.so basically your forced to buy it.even though its not very accurate.

I think I might buy the elk caller at the very least as I only seem to attract mule and whitetail (and even then I hardly ever find the ****ers).
I played more patiently last night and I just sat in a tower for 25 minutes, eventually one of them came towards my calls and I shot it in the arse.

You wouldnt get anything sooner that way, but the people who would be happy to pay for the 30 have to wait a lot longer. Nobody wins in that scenario. If you wait for the 300, everybody wins, you still waited the same amount of time, but those happy with the 30 get their way too
I don't think they're being underhand in this, they're releasing content as it's ready. I'd rather they took their time on the 300 too, save us the fiasco when the 30was released!! It's a powerful gun that can be used on elk and deer, and leaves loads of bag space for the pistol for toikeys.

the thing is if theyd left the scope on that we found by mistake on the 30.06

I agree with both you and DG in that Elk are my favourite, so whilst not forced, I felt obliged to buy it or the game would have lost 50% of the appeal to me, because you have to hunt the Elk differently, and that's what I like.
My cost issue comes in when I've paid more than that I would have done when buying a new premium title (which I'd happily spend £40 on). I've always boycotted games where you have to pay for the game and then the online content. It's not that I disagree with it, I just don't like it.
I got into this knowing that it was going to cost here and there, but I will have an issue if the .300 or a scope for the .30-06 comes out very soon. An "exchange" will be sought!
Don't think the 300 can be that far off. The ingame dev stats seem to be going up rapidly, so they must be getting used a fair bit.

I expect you won't get any kind of exchange, you could have just waited, they didn't force you to buy the gun.
The membership gets you all the animal licenses, and because they gave you a free trial on the gun you now perhaps feel that you should get it for free all the time, but they never offered that or gave any such indication.
As for the stats, they change the stats to test the gun, doesn't mean theyre playing with it. They may not have shot any deer at all.

Well the Elk caller certainly works better than the free one 
The others are literally just for variety. This is a GOOD thing. The free bleat caller works as well as any lure can work, what more could you expect from the grunt? I bought the grunt because it's fun and it's quicker to use than the bleat, simpler too, only one click.
The urine I don't know about, I'm not sure how to use it so haven't yet.
Just to point out, I'm not making light of you chaps' opinions about cost etc, please don't take any offense

you should see the stick i get in cod 4. some people would give up gaming with what i get
end of day its a game that is meant for fun.
i might have a blast later on my muleys and turkey range. shot quite a few over 450 feet turkeys but they either gone or magic dissapeared.all have been hit.ill get the number one soon.

I know, you're right, but given the way the devs have been to date I guess some were hoping that when the trial ended, they may have another option available.
I think one of the problems is that this is the first time that some of the playing community have felt let down, albeit without much justifiable reason.

BTW a bit of advice. Don't make a cup of tea and bring it up to drink while you are playing this. I can guarantee it will be cold before you get half way down the cup

just been on for couple of hrs and omg elk city
heres the screenshow of it.
so in end i had 4 elk in two hrs ish. the one shot with the two elk a sleep was funny cause one was female and one was male and they were both walking together then just decided to get there head down.big mistake cause i killed em both !
