It happens but stick with it. Take it nice and slow, avoid running if possible, and slow up when you start finding tracks. Use your deer caller every few mins or so. Remember the deer can hear/see/smell you coming so you need to be sneaky!

It does get easier, partially as you learn how the game plays and partially because your stats go up and things improve, but even someone who has played hours and hours can have a bad hunt.

This game needs a lot of patients but also remember it is fairly random and therefore there is quite a bit of luck involved.
 
head for large meadows around dinner time. best easiest way to see a animal.

i never use calls, and always run :D i always do things different :p
 
so my little brother has started playing this but said he been going around for hours and yet to see not even 1 animal, is there anything that needs to be done first? on his profile I see that "no missions started" message?

You dont need to do missions to find and kill animals, they're just a bit of fun. To start one you need to go to your inbox at the top left and click on the message from Doc. In that message you reply by clicking a response and that'll kick start the missions.
As for finding animals, you've gotta track them not just run around as they'll hear and see you long before you see them. You can sprint about by all means until you find a track, then I advise walking until you spot your prey. You need to take into account wind and ambient noise levels (the bar at the top of your huntermate) to avoid being heard.

Just takes practice :)
 
I had my first really big Elk over the weekend. First one I've seen over 1100 lbs, coming in at 1101.3 lbs. Slightly disappointing score of c. 317, was hoping for more. Enjoying having the new 3 x scope and the Magnum, much better combo though we do need bigger backpacks now!

basically ive found out of all the times ive been and played on this game 11 oclock is best overall time to start.12 is the golden hr make sure your on a meadow at tweleve or very close to.

the amount of times ive kiiled animals at dead on twelve cant be a fluke and they tend to be biggies :p

broke the 200 kill barrier other day :p
 
Anyone having any problems running this in windows 7 x64?

I just had a go and it was stuttering/lagging horribly. The fps occasionally jumped up and it smoothed out a bit but overall it was pretty unplayable. Wondering if I should go back to xp or if it might be a hardware issue as I upgraded my gfx card at the same time as switching to windows 7 (x1900xt to 8800GT)

Windows 7 was a clean install on a new hdd btw.

Same as I was before, 1280x800. The wierd thing is when I start running the lag goes away momentarily and things are much smoother but as soon as I switch back to walking the lag comes back and the performance is much worse. Maybe the game just doesn't like x64 windows 7?
 
Anyone? Still got this problem. Even on low res the game is jerky and stuttering. Much worse than it was before the upgrade when I used xp :(

Never noticed it until you pointed it out. I recently started to run my 4850 at stock because with the warmer weather i didnt want things starting to fry. Before this i never notice any probs. As previous posted said i goning to try and disable the aa and in the meantime order another cooler;)
 
Just on another note, i would be curious to know the quickest kill anyone got after starting a game. Mine is currently 12 mins into game for a confirmed kill

well i emailed the hunter team a few times and basically theres supposed to be some very big updates within two weeks of last friday so anytime now they should be here.

hopefully its new animals or vehicles or something other than a new gun (.300)

i havent played for this reason for a week and half just while i wait for this to be updated.

hopefully they stick to what was said and the updates flow through.
