well recieved this earlier
We hope everything is well with you and the guys at Overclockers.
We'd like to take a quick moment to say thank you for all your questions and feedback in the forums, they are very much appreciated. We are sorry to hear that you're finding things a little dull in The Hunter at the moment, but we know how important elements like in game messaging, new environments and the progression towards multiplayer gaming are and we've tried to address some of those issues in this mail.
If you or your friends have questions or something they would like some more detail on be sure to let us know.
Q: We have had some really great updates recently, are we going to see the updates coming at the same pace over the coming weeks?
A: The recent additions of the new weapons, clothing and competitions were substantial, so you shouldn’t expect game updates of THAT size every week. Although if you have a look in The Hunter Forums some of our fans already have ideas of what they’d like to see next at Doc’s Outfitters. While you may not see new animals and items added every week, you will see a lot more updates here at The Hunter.com letting you know what’s coming and what is currently being worked on, not only in the Coming Soon and In Development Blogs but also on the front page and in our newsletters; helping to keep our fans up to date on what to expect. Importantly, you will also see regular competitions such as ‘The Hunters Got Talent’ helping to add that extra dimension to The Hunter.com and all the action in the EHR.
Q: When will the Big Island be opening up?
A: One of the most popular vistas in the EHR has been the large forest off the east coast of Whitehart Island, a tempting treat for many The Hunter fans over the past months. The good news is that the Big Island will eventually be open for you all to play, and enjoy. For those of you who had a small panic when they saw djohnson’s T-Rex in our update, we promise the island will have plenty of surprises but animals will be real species rather that the residents of Isla Sorna. However, the Big Island will not be opening its borders for a while. One of our key aims here at The Hunter is to provide a variety of different hunting experiences not only in species but environments. So you can expect other islands to open first each with a feel as unique as Whitehart Island.
Q: The License image only has room for 7 Animal Tags, will The Hunter only ever have 7 animals?
A: Far from it, so far the majority of the animals in the EHR have been trophy animals such as Deer & Elk, and while these remain popular with our hunters we have never been a team to rest on our laurels. With Coyote and bow hunting coming to The Hunter we are looking to open up the range of species. Coyotes are the first varmint species to be added, so you can expect the feel of The Hunter to continue to evolve. 7 may be a lucky number but we certainly have far more planned.
Q: With so many new items, calls, clothes and weapons being added will there be any updates to the Inventory, will we be able to have a bigger backpack?
A: Nice short answer on this one is yes. As Dan announced in the Coming Soon section on the site, the option for a backpack providing more inventory space is currently in production.
Q: What's the status on Multiplayer?
A: One of the big questions that we've had since we announced The Hunter is will the game be trully multiplayer. Many months back we set out a plan explaining that while we fully intent for The Hunter to multiplayer instances that we wanted to get the single player experiences as good as we could make them and then move towards multiplayer instances as a staggered approach starting with competitions, moving to group competitions and then progressively towards multiplayer instances.
As you know we have added in the competition system which has been very well received, and as Dan announced this week work is progressing on methods to allow in game chat so taking us another step closer.
By way of some further updates, we can tell you that even with the amount of work being done on new content we have not forgotten the existing elements of The Hunter. Just recently, in response to feedback from players we have been reviewing the Shotgun, which you should find has had its choke adjusted in an upcoming update.
Please keep the questions and the feedback coming.
Hunter's Got Talent competition will be running until the 15th of July.
Although the videos must contain footage from The Hunter, it doesn't necessarily have to be a hunting video, this is an opportunity to let your imagination run wild and the winners will be judge on how creative and inventive they are.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards,
The Hunter Team
