Any one watch the latest dev diary video? Nice aerial shot of the island and then a glimpse of the main island next door. Looks flipping huge! Can't wait until they open that up. :)

New Journal system

New Journals

In today's update the new journal system is released. The key new feature is that you'll now have a 'feed' page showing the journal entries from everyone on your friends list. From the feed page you can also see the number of comments on each of the journal posts, so it's easy to see any 'hot' topics.

With it being so much easier to read your friends journals there's much more reason to be writing your own. So if you haven't written a journal update before, now is the perfect time to begin!
Later this week...

The new journal is just the beginning of what will be an exciting week in theHunter. Towards the end of the week we launch a major new feature, and add a much-anticipated new item to Doc's Outfitters.

First up is our competition system. These include contests such as Top Turkey and Bull's Best, and allow you to compete against everyone else in the EHR.

From this weekend you'll be able to sign up to and hunt, for free, with winners receiving prizes, often in em$!

These competitions, along with many others, will run periodically awarding additional prizes including a trophy which can be proudly displayed on your profile page using the new trophy widget. The competition system also keeps players up to date whilst hunting, with messages detailing any changes to the top places of any competitions you are in.

Competitions are the perfect way to see who's the cream of the crop, top of the heap!

Secondly the much anticipated item hardly needs an introduction, it's the .300 bolt action rifle. This is a truly epic addition to any hunting inventory. It provides increased accuracy and stopping power over longer ranges than the .270 or .243, making it perfect for elk, but also a great weapon if you like to hunt Mule or Whitetail.

Competitions now live

The competition system is now live! Log in and go to the new Competitions page under the Go Hunting menu. From there you can browse the competitions available for each species, see the entry details and the prizes that can be won. And if you do finish in a prize-winning position you can expect a trophy as well. Just add the new trophy widget to your page so you can show off your hunting achievements!

Competitions starting today include the .44 Mule Deer Hunt and Top Turkey. There will be more over the weekend, and you can look forward to some very special competitions over the coming weeks and months.

Doc is pleased, or as pleased as Doc ever gets, to announce that the .300 bolt action rifle is now in stock. This is the one you've all been waiting for, a powerful firearm, superb at long range and available at an introductory price of 600em$. You'd be mad not to pick one up!

noticed chaosophy had a top kill earlier what was it? in the comp i just had a 93.6 turkey and is number 1 :cool:

hopefully doesnt get beat by tomorrow for my winnings
 
It was in the Mule deer comp. :)

Entered the comp, first hunt out, first kill and it was a beaut. :P

Couldn't believe it and then couldn't believe it when i saw a message for 3rd place come up later and realised that those messages must have gone out to anyone playing at the time. So they now must all know I am number 1. :cool:

I'm so chuffed. :o

em$400 1st prize if it's not beaten before the 15th. :D
 
me too and sweating now im first still with turkey runs until 11pm tonight i think, show me the money :D (no doubt some nab will shoot one just before it finishes)

cool, good luck with the Turkey.

I'm a little worried. As even though I am a fair few points clear of second place and I have a strong score, a look at the leader boards shows that there is scope there for a higher score to be possible.

The other thing is that I might be able to get another hunt in tonight but then I am working all weekend and probably won't be able to play again until Monday night at the latest. :(

Some swine has knocked me off the top spot for the .44MDH comp. :(

Message popped up in near the start of the worst hunt I've had this week, swear the bugger jinxed the rest of my hunt. :mad:

Now wondering whether to sneak another hunt in or not as it'll be my last before the comp ends?

Cool news with the updates, not too fussed about the clothes but the rest sounds good.

Cool that someone from here is the first comp winner. You should update your page by adding some widgets, there's a new one specially for the trophies. ;)
