The Indoor Riding/ Zwift/ TrainerRoad etc. Thread

Yeah, the fit isn't too bad as it's a big frame, and then i could always stick some cheap drops if i decided i preferred it, or maybe tri bars to just lean into it.

Pretty sure it's still available, although i see Decathlon have a basic Van Rysel DD trainer for €250 and i'm wondering if that works better for me, a new cassette/deraileur wouldn't cost too much if i kept it basic. It's only really to try and get some power based workouts in which i'll likely give up on :D

EDIT the Basic D100 Van Rysel turbo only does 6% gradient, i'd want the D500 and then i might as well buy the Zwift offering
I've got some alloy drop bars you can have if you're back in the UK at any point. Actually threw 2 pairs in the recycling last week... Still have 3 pairs of 'new' Specialized alloy ones I couldn't bear to throw. 2x42cm & 1x40cm. I have 44mm Trek/Bontrager alloys on my Diverge which will get swapped probably for 42cm over the Xmas break... I'm sure I have another non-name brand, but not sure the sizing.

The VR product is going to be interesting, but the one to watch is the JetBlack Victory. That is the one to have - bit more money, but no derailleur/cassette requirement, as comes with all of the functions/features with the Zwift Cog - and more - being a 'Zwift Ready' backed product - will shake up the market, both for Smart Trainers and I also see it doing what the Zwift Ride is already doing for Smart Bikes...

Didn't see that one coming...

Did come out of left-field a bit. Although someone acquiring IV was always on the cards after seeing how much and how far it'd got as a solo 'project' by George after all... Amazing 'proof of concept' really which became an amazing product in it's own right, with a single developer who didn't have a long term business goal. I sure hope they keep out of the central development of it and George can continue - with a lot of security and backing for the work and investment he's already made. Build his own team to correctly develop the product - rather than commercial decisions derailing things and determining the future. It can easily become a 'Zwift beater' - but with MW already trying to do that (without much success), it seems pointless to try the same. But there is a large gap in the market for the 'professional racing' product that Zwift have always strived to be and MW have touted themselves as being... With the awareness there's very little money in cycling & online at the moment, Trainingpeaks won't make money short-term and have to realise that. But longer term there has to be and will be sensible business decisions for doing it. It's just what it takes IV to get there without too many compromises at this point. And I say that as a long-term Zwifter who's only dabbled in RGT & IV (as I couldn't stick using products which felt very inferior, I still 'see' the flaws in Zwift)

I just want Trainer Road to bloody do the Zwift integration already!!
TrainingPeaks and TrainerRoad are unrelated...!

I know, I don’t use TP. I use TR.

Just want them to pull their finger out and integrate with the Zwift API already.

Not that I can do much. I have a chest infection and on antibiotics
How do you find TR? I’ve only been using it for 3 weeks. Seems ok so far, but quite dull looking at the bars. Zwift workout are definitely an improvement for engagement.

Still I’ve been hitting the hours and only missed 2 workout so far. I want to give it 3 months to see whether it is worthwhile vs the random rides I usually do on zwift. I will post my thoughts and hopefully gains!

It's very boring but I found the actual sessions much more engaging than the ones on Zwift. I also watch something on the TV when I use TR so it didn't really bother me. I'm not currently subscribed. On Zwift for a few months to free ride around but will eventually go back onto TR when I want to do another training plan.

If they worked together without faffing around too much I would be subscribed to both. TR is worth it for the FTP Detection alone :P

Good plan. I’ll try to watch Netflix and see if that helps. I love the fact I have 19 days and 3 hours 17 minutes until my next AI FTP update.

Does Wahoo tend to do much around Black Friday? The Kickr Core with the Zwift cog is €500 and just wondering if it's likely worth waiting.

The used market annoys me here! In the UK i bought a Kickr V4 for around £250 off ebay, but here people seem to sell the core for not far off the new price!

@Martynt74 Sounds like there is a new model coming out from a company called "jet black" that might we worth waiting for. They made the original Zwift cog trainer and GP Llama seems to think its exceptional and that ignoring the low cost compared to other brands.

Tried to do a VO2 max session last night doing 7x3min @120% FTP with 3 minutes between reps. Couldn't get past rep 5. Not sure I would have finished it even if I was feeling fresh but 3 hours less sleep from a screaming boy the night before probably didn't help.

I don't find The Gorby (5x5min @110% FTP) that bad so I wasn't expecting this to be quite as brutal.

Always wondered how much of a difference those things can make?

I'm going to risk going for a ride, inside, when I finish this course of antibiotics. Annoyed as I've got a few routes with elevation to do this last 6k but I think I'll have to stick to a flat route and maybe 30-45 minutes.

Watch out for poo on the way to the shed
