The Indoor Riding/ Zwift/ TrainerRoad etc. Thread

I had a kickr snap previously and thought it was great. Reliable and no issues. I changed as it was wheel on and I didn’t have a road bike at the time. If you have an MTB on it then you could find you can’t go fast enough in flats/downhills to race. The cog would solve that though if needed.

The core will be perfect for ERG training and that is a good price.
Perfect, thanks!

Does anyone know if the Black Friday 'deal' on the wattbike atom is any good?

It's £2245 and includes 1 month of zwift, 12 months of wattbike hub, and a polar h10 strap.

I usually use pricespy or camelcamelcamel to view the price history of stuff I'm looking to buy, but neither of those can track this.

My trainer (Jetblack Volt) has become incredibly loud at high speeds in the last couple of weeks, with a real rumble. Video at :

Ignore the clonking, I couldn't be bothered to put cleats on for a 30 second video so my feet were slipping off the pedals!

Any ideas? Is it a warranty jobby? I'm hoping not...

well I finished printing them, got 8 tennis balls for £10 and it’s all setup. Seems to give a lot of extra cushioning and “movement” in the rear end. Doesn’t feel weird at all, more natural if anything.

650ish grams of filament
16 hours to print
£10 of tennis balls
5 mins to install.

So around £20 all in. Pretty good.

Anyone interested in taking these ? You’ll just need to get some tennis balls. I printed another set in orange because reasons so these are sitting around

Will fit wahoo core - may do others but check first.

Giving them away, just pay the postage.

Yea ill take them, will go while with the kickr core i just bought

Done my first couple of sessions over the weekend with the tennis balls did a 90 min endurance session and the gentle rocking was pretty good. I did a session this morning before work and it had some sprints getting out of the saddle felt a little weird but im sure ill get used to it.

£299 H3
Great price, but not really heard much about Saris trainers for a while... The H2 was always 'the' trainer to have for TR due to how good it was at ERG.

Complete clueless when it comes to indoor training but recovering from a broken arm so need something to keep myself fit while I can't ride my mtb. Can't see myself doing SIM races probably just ERG, would Kickr Core be a good choice? Seems to be 425 delivered with cog and play which i could sell guess
You've already got it, but if you're not too worried about accuracy or really the smart features/interactive side then there's lots of on wheel trainers around for peanuts. Wahoo KICKR SNAP probably one of the better more accurate ones and currently on a £250 BF deal. The Wahoo Rollr one also good, but not on a deal.

That's a good price for the Core, you should also sell the Cog and Play easily (bear in mind Zwift selling them cheap currently too - got my Play new for £45 last week), but you can get a reconditioned Core for £360 so very marginal about saving anything unless you've got friends to buy the other bits. I'd have no issues riding anything reconditioned from Wahoo as their support is one of the best in the business - so are their products.

Anyone ridden a KICKR Climb or know someone with one? Really can't decide, especially with Wahoo now selling them at £399... If it was £299 I'd have no issue as they've sold them reconditioned for that before, but second hand they tend to be selling for around £200 which seems pretty damn cheap for people who paid £500-600 for it making me think there's age related issues with them?!

Could it be a bearing issue? It is loud and changes pitch with speed. It isn’t a usual issue for smart trainers. If it is within warranty, then I would think it would be a warranty replacement.

Your mat looks worn/beaten, a sign of some good use! How long have you had it? I nearly got one a few years back when WTRL did the Velomat ones. My £18 'Sportscrafters' I've had for years from some bargain bin needs changing. Parts of it nearly worn through but it's in a garage and had far more than a sweaty lump breathing over the top... I've hammered out BB's on it, even melted part of it with various power tools
Yeah this is a Velomat. It'll be close to 3 years old I think. Its just the top layer of print come off from the little pirouette I do with the cleats on to mount it so no wear as such.

I have my parents coming to stay over summer so had to have a bit of a shift about to free up one of the bedrooms for them. Moved my home office into the zwift room to begrudgingly accommodate, had to turn the set up 90 degrees which has squeezed it all up rendering that fan, which isn't that great anyway, being next to useless. Ordered the Vacmaster from Amazon Monday, the one with the bar mounted remote so hoping that will help improve things.

Cheers! Popped into Evans where I got it from yesterday, who were (unsurprisingly) useless. Suggested I send a video to the manufacturers so I'll do that. They'll tell me it's a bearing issue. Then I'll bring it in to a Evans and tell them to replace it or refund under the warranty, it's only 9 months old

I had an issue with mine, different to yours. Bikeshop didn't want to know had to sort it all out with Garmin directly who were very good to be fair.

Been a tough journey this year, and whilst I'm a long way from getting through it I am learning to deal with grief and I've gotten back on the bike a bit. I found out I've got 86% route completion on Zwift so it's given me a little bit of focus. Sadly, the few I've got left to do are the epic ones.... ::cry:.

Got a race to train for next year (entered the outlaw again) and whilst I don't think I'm in a position to do well I'll hopefully finish again not broken.

Zwift racers may find their Racing Score significantly changed after 30secs power was removed from the seed score today!
Not sure how this will impact racing. With current pack dynamics I’d assume this would help those with a strong sprint. Apparently other anti-sandbagging and changes to decay to stop people artificially dropping a category have been added. Need to see how it works now.

Sorry to hear this mate, but onwards and upwards! Use Zwift as a distraction, but also something to focus on. Something you can control.

The Sunday morning 3R Endurance ride (normally 100km B+C pens at different W/kg) is running an E pen through winter now where they're going to focus on some of the longer and hillier routes for training and badges. They did Four Horsemen last weekend, this one coming is Surrey Hills.

I just haven’t been equipped to deal with this year. It’s going to be a slow recovery.

I’m seriously considering entering RAAM as a remedy though.

Anyone got real life comparisons of the various apps? I'm currently hovering between Rouvy and MyWhoosh. Mywhoosh is probably ideal as it's free. Just need to check my old laptop is capable of running it.

My main goals for indoor riding is to just get a mix of long endurance rides (2-3hrs) in early/late where it's dark outside at the moment, and then maybe a proper workout once a week. No aims for social riding or races etc.

Indievelo is also an option since it's still free till March, and then given it's tied into Training peaks it feels it might integrate well into a mix of indoor/outdoor riding from a data standpoint. Trainer Road also seems ideal, in that it takes an AI approach and suggests workouts based on recent activities a little like the Garmin suggested workout. That feels ideal and i'm unsure how much i would really care about the fake outdoor cycling design of the main apps.

The other option is just using the bike on it's own platform and sticking Netflix on. In the basis that the long rides would be less boring and the workouts would be short enough i don't need distraction.
