The Intel Arc owners thread

I hope the next generation - Celestial - will challenge at the top end.

Even if it was to challenge say a 6080 I would be happy. Just don't charge 6080 money for it. AMD tries this and look what happened to their market share.

Promising performance from the mobile GPU: the Arc 140V beats the Radeon 780M and trades blows with the Geforce GTX 1650 non-M.

Despite the first MSI Claw being trash, I'm quite interested in the sequel, Claw 8 with Lunar Lake and the Battlemage iGPU in it.

Hope it's good because it's got a 8in 1920x1200 16:10 VRR display.

I mainly want a handheld for retro gaming and that aspect ratio is far superior to 16:9 for perfect integer scaling of old games and minimal borders.

Battlemage delayed till 2025.

I wonder if it's now so delayed that it will be obsolete when it arrives. Nvidia and AMD will be on there next generation by then meaning intel will be over a generation behind, unless they cancel battlemage all together and jump straight to the next chip using what they've learnt in the development of battlemage.

Also, what's the arc GPUs like now for performance, fine wine? Have intel managed to get much more performance out of the driver's or are they still much the same as the start of the year just more stable?

Where is Battlemage?

If it's anything like Gaudi then it's no good

Intel has changed its tune with its AI products and no says they will stop trying to compete with Nvidia

Seems there is no one stopping the Nvidia train, both AMD and Intel seem to be pulling back

They've definitely pushed performance over the course of the year. I can't say I've ever had stability issues on mine.
Recently, it just seems to work in everything I try although I don't play too much. Even Starfield the other week seemed fine to me. I never use overlays, as I don't rabidly obsess over FPS, it wasn't a horrific judderfest though. Worst thing about it, was the fact I was playing Starfield.

I tried some Switch emulation recently, but the lighting was pretty messed up. Not sure if that's an Intel thing, or just flaky Switch emulation.

I think Battlemage will be decent, given the GPU performance from Lunar Lake CPUs. It's likely going to be too late though. They really needed this thing out *now* to scavenge some sales. We can already predict how it will go though, launch at an optimistically high price, have performance only just good enough for the cards out right now, beaten by competitors next products, price drop.

That's good to hear, I'd like intel to be successful, hopefully it starts working out for them, maybe need a few generations to get parity.
