The Intel Arc owners thread

This may be a Photoshop but apparently Asrock have a B580 coming soon:

By the looks of that cooler its 200 watt max.

OCUK are getting in on the pre-launch hype!

'RTX 4070 performance'!

Reality check.....

The B580 would have to be 70% faster than the A770, not the A580, which isn't on this list, but the A770 to "match the RTX 4070"

The A580 is equal to an RTX 2070, if you look back and the first link the RTX 2070 is also on that one, at 51% of the RTX 4070, so the B580 would need a 100% jump in performance.

Not a chance in hell.... at best its A770. Called it....

It so obviously untrue if you just think for 20 seconds, you set expectations like that imagine how disappointed people are going to be when inevitably it turns out to be WAY off, and what that will do for your reputation.

In real world gaming the A580 isn’t much slower than the A770, and a 70% increase from a first-generation product is not implausible.

Time will tell.

That looks like 15% on average which even by this measure makes it needing +85%.

When was the last time you saw a +70% or +85% gen on gen increase? saying something implausible is not implausible doesn't make it so.... Not in the real world.

Also....

Intel Arc B580 Battlemage GPU allegedly surfaces on Geekbench — with 20 Xe Cores, 12GB of VRAM, and 2.85 GHz boost it falls short of the A580 despite being a generation newer

The A580 has 24 XE Cores, the B580 has 20 XE Cores, that's 20% less, this isn't gaining 80%+ over its predecessor.

I've never really looked into the A580, but it seemed like it was just shifting A750 chips that couldn't cut it? The B580 has been uninteresting to me.
Intel have already fluffed it, with the huge delay on the B770. I'm likely going to buy one, but there's not going to be many saying the same thing.

It's not unbelievable it could see a high % uplift in one of the areas Alchemist is flawed, but those numbers will be outliers.
