The Intel Quadcore Database

Got another 3 hours to go till the "magic" 8 hour prime shot @ 3.6Ghz :p
I have a question...
I can post fine at 3.7Ghz-4.1Ghz(1.575v)It will post but just as the windows XP loading screen appears I get BSOD which lasts 1/4 of a sec and the PC reboots.Temps are fine(65c max) and even @ 1.6v it get the same thing:(
I take it the chip has reached its limit? After 1.6v my mobo next step is 1.8 lol so I decided against it:eek:

3 quick questions:

I see only 11 names on the db screenie on page 1, is there another link?

Is there a minimum overclock? Am I wasting my time posting 3.33GHz w/ 8GB, i.e. ram-limited? I know its not record-setting, but given the sys-config on air..?

The box my G0 came in has been binned - how can I find the FPO#?

Thanks.

CPU Q6600
Revison G0
FPO# L725B020
Clockspeed 3.33GHz (370*9)
Vcore 1.3725
Motherboard Abit IP35 Pro
Cooling Noctua NH-U12F
CPU Temp 65 (74/74/71/72)

12-hours small-ffts Prime 95 v25.4.

This is on Vista 64 Ultimate, running 8GB ram (which I *genuinely* need for research purposes - hence this build). The ram is a limiting factor.

Temp wise, I've since added an Antec spotcool fan, which has lowered PWM temps, and taken a degree or two off max load - but I haven't bothered re-running the whole exercise.

As I say, its not a contender by any means, but not bad for the ram limitation on air.

Ignore core 3 on coretemp, When I took a screenshot it dipped to 52c for a split second:confused:

I would love to use lower volts but anything under 1.575 will only prime for 6 hours and then fail:(

w3bbo i think all the people with the same score should be sorted by vcore, the lower the vcore the higher in the list as this indicates a better overclock /chip imo anyway

Yipee, I did it! Going to tweak to see if I can get the voltage down (even though temps are pretty damn good I think....)

CPU: Q6600
Rev: G0
FPO: L726A977
Clock: 3600mhz
Vcore: 1.52v (droops to 1.456v)
Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3P
Cooling: TRU-E with XILENCE 120mm 60CFM fan (quiet)
CPU Temp: 61deg C

Nice clock axer  I was going for the 3600 today on the same cooler but cores0,1 were passing 70*c, yet cores 2,3 remained low 60's. have you lapped either?

What happened to your fourth core in Speedfan? Seems to have done a runner :p

@ Webbo

Cheers buddy, best of luck getting it stable at 4Ghz, that would be some achievement!

@ O-Jay

Not lapped anything bud

@ Schnippzle

No idea :/ Only running it to see how the temps of devices like my HDD's do when the CPU is under heavy load. Seemingly they aren’t being affected at all so getting the heat out of the case isn’t proving to be a problem!

In speedfan, if you go to configure and de-select some of the items which temps are currently being displayed, the 4th core will show up ;).
