***The iOS 5 Thread***

Updated to latest OSX and iTunes on my Macbook Pro, plugged in iPhone 4 to update to iOS 5 but keep getting the internal error message and holding dow CTRL does not skip "Backup" for me either :(

The Camera application got some really cool upgrades in iOS 5. One of my favorite features is the ability to use the volume up button to snap a picture. This makes it so much easier to take photos now.

Another way Apple has improved the speed of taking pictures is allowing users to launch the camera app right from the lock screen. Now when your iPhone is locked and you double tap the home button you will see a camera icon next to the slide to unlock bar. Press this and you will be snapping pictures in no time. You will only be able to see the pictures you take in the session for security reasons. If you want to view all of your pictures in the photo album you will have to unlock your iDevice. (Note: I am not talking about the carrier unlock. I am talking about the slide to unlock!).

Incase people start wondering where it is on lock screen !

I guess I spoke too soon.

"An error occurred while restoring this iPhone (-34)" right at the end.

Anyone seen this one?

Iv decided to backup my photos before trying to update anymore lol. never backed them up!
Hopefully the servers will have calmed down slightly by then!

Download timed out for a third time whilst processing the file. I don't know why I bother as this **** happens every single time I update via iTunes. Just awful.

Anyone got any download links?

Apparently if you sign out of the app store, and turn your phone onto airplane mode then do the update it will work... Just something i read on macrumors.

Ditto.

First time got as far as the reboot then failed, the next two just errored straight out after the extraction.

Rebooting the Mac for a second time. Fourth time lucky.

Has anyone had problems with purchases going missing, seem to have lost all my ringtones and it won't sync them from iTunes.

Given the slow download speed (averaged around 250Kb/s on a line that usually gets 1.2Mb/s from Apple) I'm wondering if the errors could be due to Apples servers getting hammered and being unable to verify?

I'm almost certain 3200 is some sort of apple verification+server load issue, I tried 7 times and changed absolutely nothing and on the 7th time it went straight through. Just keep trying, it seems like all these "fixes" like Airplane mode are just coincidence.
