***The iOS 5 Thread***

Dont think so, just wireless, 3g or wap.

If someone finds it and turns it off then no, I dont think its possible to find it just from the phones GPS

Is it possible to prevent the phone from being powered off when locked? I've always though this "find my phone" stuff was worthless as anyone stealing your phone will turn it off pretty quick. If it can't be turned off without a passcode, and the SIM is relatively fidilly to remove, then it may actually be worthwhile.

Evening all,

Quick question about ios5 and I cloud.

The only apple device I have is a 3GS.

I take photos on my phone can I view them on I cloud web site ?? Ive logged in to the web site put see no icon for photos ??

I can see a photo stream folder in the photos section on the phone.

:)

is there a list of apps that have widgets about at all only have the weather and stocks on mine

No, not yet at least. Apple haven't released any Widget API and so there are no other widgets expect for Apples Stocks and Weather Widgets :(

Not yet at least :( There isn't currently anywhere on the iCloud site to view your Photo Stream. I should think it'd be added though, it would make sense.

No problems so far apart from not knowing how to remove photos from the photostream. (which i have now turned off)

Can't remove photos from photostream, either have to remove them all, or hide that dodgy pic you took for a month for it to clear :D

Dunno if everyone knows this, but I just found a new ios5 feature xD

If you select one word you can do the normal stuff like copy cut, but now Define.
It then opens the dictionary.
I like this feature lol.

Yea i get emails. But i dont get a lot of other things such as facebook, twitter...

Apparently you can resolve it by restoring you phone, but i cba doing that.

I've found facebook in particular to be fairly flaky on push notifications, despite restores/reinstalls, seems to be at their end I think.

I restored my iphone 4 onto my 4S and am getting tempted to do a full restore as I seem to be running into various crashes/issue but want to know if I do and then restore apps onto it from the cloud, will they come with save data for games/messages etc? or will it be starting a fresh as it used to?

Also, for those using email notifications, has anyone worked out a way to only get notifications for inbox even if you have multiple folders pushed to your phone. I have both my inbox and all mail folder pushed on gmail, but if I do I get duplicate notifications of emails etc, when all I really want is my inbox pushed, but all mail available as and when I need to look at it.

For those having issues with FB notifications, this started when they updated it so its an issue at their end. Was also like this on my 3GS previously on 3.1.3.

first day of using iphone 4s in anger at work and I have to say its great. Feels much faster and i've found the signal more consistent.

Only downside/letdown on the hardware seems to be the battery life does seem to drain more quickly, but I can live with that

imessage (or messaging in general on iOS) is still a big fail from me though, and not a BBM killer. Best feature of bbm is that it queues messages when there is no signal and sends once you have signal, which as a Londoner means i can reply to my bbm messages on the tube and everything sends once i step out. iMessage just seem to switch to sms and then I have to go through the rigmarole of hitting retry on all my messages once i'm above ground!

fingers crossed that iMessage 2.0 is a proper push messaging service with queuing!
