*** The iPad Air thread ***

That refers to 'PC' (a type of computer) not Windows or Microsoft or any other brand so I don't really see your point? I assume then you don't have any examples like the amazon ad?

Oh come on, call it 'PC' if you want but its a pop at windows. Personally I thought the Amazon add was mildly amusing, funny that people would be upset by it.

I don't think anyone is upset - just making the point that Apple are too classy to trash talk other brands in their ads.

As I'm lying here still in bed, comfortably thumb typing using split keyboard on my iPad Air, I thought I would do a data speed test comparison
Never had a 4G device before...
In order, 4G, 3G, Wi-Fi.

On another note, are the text edit options supposed to move when I tilt the device? Seems wrong...

Chromed doesn't reload tabs. Makes me think it's just an software issue...

I returned my iPad today and got a refund because of the reboot problems and the weight. I'm going to wait for the new generation mini instead.

Dude you need to get down the gym if u think the ipad air is heavy lol:D

Clearly don't lift bro..

So am planning to get an air this week. Is it worth getting anything more than a 16gb model? Also is it better to get an apple case or are there good quality third party cases that I can get. I have some vouchers on the forest (US) site that I could use if there is a decent alternative.

Regarding the space, I decided to go for 32 GB, mostly due to the fact that I'll be wanting to put that A7 to good use and slapping lots of games on there (with 'high end' 3D games being in excess of 1-1.5GB in a lot of cases...)

I'll be streaming videos, so I won't be using the storage for that, but I'd rather not to have to constantly worry about removing stuff so I can install/copy over the latest game/app/music etc

I simply ask the question as my primary use for the unit will be for internet and then testing my websites on it. I will probably have some podcasts on the system and maybe the odd video / ebook. I think for me the 16gb is fine and will satisfy my needs but something in the back of my mind is saying go for the 32gb.

I guess I will make up my mind when I eventually go and purchase one. They seem to be in plentiful supply so I will see. I was considering either the nexus 7 or the kindle fire hdx as alternatives but given that my primary web audience is iPad based it would seem more sensible to get an iPad than an android or windows device.

If you are buying an ipad consider either the upto £50 cash back on all iPads offer at a certain purple coloured computer hardware store or place named after a popular spicy food valid till 4th Dec.

Or better still price match like I did, to a large department store that offers a 2 year guarantee on all its electrical and is never knowing undersold, to get the £50 off and extra guarantee.

Hopefully this might help someone, and keep within the forum competitor rules, if not please delete.

Safari has a habit of crashing in safari with embedded YouTube videos, since iOS7, but that's a well known bug. My iPad 3 did it, my dads iPad 4 did it. Needless to say both mine and my dads iPad Air suffer with it as well

Hi guys,

Just wanted to share my irritating experience of the Air so far. To start with I find the actual idea of the Air fantastic - all in all the lighter weight and smaller size along with speed increase over my iPad3 is brilliant. The realisation of the Air though seems almost like some sort of rushed beta version to me.

I started off with a 16GB black wifi only model. On this model I noticed the power socket was wonky and a small shard of it was poking up which just did not seem right.

The second model I got (decided to up it to a 32GB + 4G in the process) the home button was destroyed. Completely recessed and unresponsive. The sim card tray was also very loose.

The third model (a replacement rather than an exchange) which I have now is perfect except the screen. If I open a tab in safari and bring the keyboard up and place a sheet of A4 right down the middle: looking on the left hand side it is significantly more yellow than on the right hand side. This is most noticeable when the brightness is low and in a darkened environment.

What do you guys think about this - I feel like I'm being a bit of plonker going back and forth to the Apple store and I'm certain this latest issue is going to get me labelled as an OCD nut - I can't work out if this is an acceptable thing to complain about or not?

Over my time with Apple I've had an iPhone 3GS and iPad 3 and these two have never given me any issues whatsoever. Sounds like I've just been fairly unlucky so far as most of this thread seem very pleased with their Air?

Cheers

Jesus, if Megan Fox had triplets, you'd be the one in the middle on the bottle.

I have none of the problems at all that you are mentioning. I think it's over analysis myself. Fair do, if the structure is wrong such as the power socket then take it back, but I think people are exaggerating the screen issues.

Not sure what the reference to Megan Fox and Jesus is about. Secondly, comparing your trouble free iPad is irrelevant.

I have a noticeable yellow tint on the left hand side of my device while in portait as also mentioned in #75 and littered over different forums. I find it especially noticeable when in reader mode or on Flipboard where it can be quite distracting at times. I have attempted to take a photo which does not give justice to the issue and would only serve to fuel my apparent 'over analysis' and 'exaggeration' anyway.

The real issue that I am trying to get at here is that when compared to the previous iPad 3 the difference is quite substantial.
