*** The iPhone 3G S Thread - All iPhone 3G S Related Stuff In Here ***

I'm sure this may well be answered elsewhere - but just want to know for sure.

I currently have an 18 month 02 Online 35 contract (normally £35 but offered to me at £24 when I renewed last year) on a Nokia N78 with free web bolt-on, with 7 months remaining. Basically its the same contract as the £35 iphone contract but with twice the texts.

If I buy a pay and go Iphone 3Gs - can I put my current SIM in it and use my current contract, with same minutes? If I do will I get all the Iphone monthly contract features, tethering etc.

Or will my SIM be incompatible with the iphone?

AFAIK the PayGo iPhone 3G S⃣ will work with any O2 sim card. But if it's not an iPhone contract sim you'll be missing the visual voicemail.
But us guys who are using our iPhone 3G contract sims in the PayGo 3G S⃣ will still get the visual voicemail.

I didn't get that deal on an iphone - i got that an a nokia n78. I wanted to know if I could keep the contract and use it in a pay&go iphone.

I got the good deal because I threatened to leave and go to orange (who were offering better.

Ok - as I get about 1 voicemail a month I don't think I'll miss that too much!
 
That is correct, the screen is not OLED.

I would bet on increased battery life being down to a marginally more efficient CPU and GPU and a slightly higher capacity battery.

Tempted to order but not too bothered as I doubt it will be that busy next week. What time are O2 stores open on Friday?

Considering a contract again as I dont think the iPhone can change that much over 1 gen so considering skipping one (mb 2year contract :eek: )...

Just phoned and was told you can't do it via an upgrade over the phone until the 19th. Funny another bloke told me the 17th a few days ago???
 
I don't understand this. When I first took out my contract with O2 I was 19 and it took a week to do a credit check/had to send documents etc.

Yet people are saying I can march into an Apple store and walk out with one minutes later. How do they do the credit check for the monthly payments?

I called my local O2 store, they weren't sure if they were opening earlier on the 19th (the usual opening time is 09:00)

I was informed to keep checking the website or call on Thursday to see if they're opening earlier.

Apple stores will open at 8.00am worldwide for the launch.

Edit: Also that Locate my Iphone App, that was shown at WWDC is it only available if you subscribe to MobileMe?

How I understand it (but will bow to superior knowledge):

You don't get Visual Voicemail, call merging or Internet tethering when using a PAYG sim in a PAYG iPhone 3G S⃣ handset.
You don't get Visual Voicemail or Internet tethering when using a normal contract sim in a PAYG iPhone 3G S⃣ handset.
You do get Visual Voicemail, call merging and Internet tethering when using an iPhone 3G contract sim in a PAYG iPhone 3G S⃣ handset.

i.e. it's the sim that loses features not the fact that its a PAYG iPhone 3G S⃣ handset.
