I am thinking of taking the plunge but have couple of noob q's on ordering from carphonewarehouse

- will I deal with CPWH or O2 once the contract is up and running?
- For everyone else who have pre ordered, have you received any form of confirmation or guarantee it will be delivered on 19th?

Thanks in advance

You'll deal with o2. Was talking to a chap in the O2 shop at the weekend and said if it's anything like the last 2 launches there will be plenty of stock, so don't worry too much about pre-ordering.

Sounds like he's got a short memory, there was no trouble getting the original iPhone but there was a huge shortage when the 3G was released.

I wonder how it'll be this time round though? Given that most people are still tied to a contract with their 3G's. Shirley there'll be enough now...

o2 speak a load of toss regarding availability, especially given that the 'there'll be enough for everyone' comments that they sprouted last time backfired hilariously. They were holding back 3G units too as I called their bluff and stated I wanted to leave - "Oh we'll have an iPhone delivered to you asap!". Meh.

I had a similar situation..

When I finally got the 3G there was dust under the screen, so I called 02 and they over-night'ed me a replacement.

Unfortunately, there was also dust under the screen on the replacement so they over-night'ed me ANOTHER the next day.. this was when they were like gold dust on launch week. They also kept a few in store in the event that they sold any DOA. It really was a joke :o

so basicly you ended up with 2 free iphones? or did they make you send them back?

Hopefully the next version will be something to get excited about. Personally i think apple are treating the iphone as a giant cash cow atm -

Just like every other product they bring out xD

@topic: Not sure whether I want an iphone yet. My phone contract isnt up for ages and I am with Orange since o2 decided they were going to start charging me for a phone upgrade when my contract was up even though I gave them about £40 a month for the last 3 or 4 years.

Anyone know if the new iphone will be bailjreakable? (not that we are allowed to talk about it much, just need a yay or nay)

Now i've seen the PAYG phone is going to cost me £538, i'm going to take a miss on this one!

Maybe if my "limited edition" White 16GB sold for a lot of money i may be persuaded to buy one.

This may cause the normal ones to drop in price to affordable levels now though.

Why isn't voice control on the 3G? Surely this is just software?

I hate Apples pricing strategies...case point is why they got rid of the 16GB iPhone. Just for profit! Just seems like Apple does too much profiteering on there pricing nowadays.

I do understand that they are a company that sells stuff and want profit but they take the mickey...

Does anyone know when the PAYG 3gs will be released ? Keep hearing different things about a Friday release

PAYGO and Contract are both being released on friday.

But from what I've heard at O2 & CPW; PAYGO and Contract are different stock allocations (not just grab a handset and pop in the relevant sim) and no-one can confirm what stock allocations they're going to get. It's assumed that the stores will get a higher allocation of contract phones than PAYGO phones as that works out better financially for O2.

I'd hope that Apple stores are going to do it better than that.

This is a really stupid question but.....Im on O2 now and if i get an iphone from an online retailer can i just pop my Sim in? I assume i can? Surely i dont need a PAC code?

Sorry for being stupid, but the only stupid question is the one you dont ask
