Your shopping basket currently contains:

O2 Apple iPhone 3G S 32GB Black
Remove

* Apple iPhone 3G S 32GB Black on O2 - £175.19
* iPhone 3G £45 Tariff (18 Months)
* With 1200 mins & 500 texts + Unlimited data per month
* Your monthly line rental will be £45.00
* Gadget Phone Support - first month FREE, cancel at any time, £2.99/month.
* PhoneCare Insurance - first month FREE, cancel at any time, £7.99/month.

You can't remove them and I hate phoning these companies up and having to sodding beg them to opt you out. Have to be so rude.

Soz was after the cashback advice :p. Is that coming on Friday? £60 would help cover insurance costs nicely :D

BTW are you considering moving down line rental later?

Dispatched on Friday via Citylink but I'm not sure the service runs on Saturday. Monday is fine for me.

Obviously I'll try and move down the line rental as soon as I can but it'll probably be a year. I really wanted the 32GB one and that combination of handset price and line rental worked out nicely. The £60 cashback and the fact I just sold my Touch for £150 nicely cover the cost of the actual phone. Haven't thought about insurance yet though.

£45/month is quite scary though, may have to cut down on the pints to bridge the gap between what I'm used to paying £35.

Have a look at quidco.com. If you're not already a member there's a £5/yr admin charge which is taken from any cashback you earn through them. Mobiles.co.uk are currently offering £60 cashback on new monthly contracts (which includes the iPhone).

Make sure you clear your cookies, login to quidco, search for mobiles.co.uk, click the referal link and then complete your order on mobiles.co.uk through the window that was opened from the referal link.
In 2-3 months time you should hopefully get £55-60 paid into your bank account :)

If your ordering through mobiles.co.uk (which is part of carphone warehouse) then use the voucher code "VCCOM" to get a free Jaba 2010 bluetooth headset as well :).

The phone is supposed to ship on 18th, and you get a choice between city link or royal mail special delivery. I choose SD as the royal mail depot is 10 minutes down the road compared to 1hr for city link if I miss the delivery.

Didn't know about the free Jaba bluetooth code, luckily the car has built in bluetooth so not missing out :)

Do you know if City Link deliver on Saturdays or is Monday the day to look forward to?

York seriously youre a star - thanks for that - got a quidco account from ages back but not really used it so will now.

What Im trying to decide is mobile phone insurance. Natwest have stiffed me unless I get the 16Gb iPhone and Im not interested in sole mobile phone insurance as its usually expensive for just that single item. So Im now trawling through bank accounts that have those additional chargeable benefits - already looks like the Barclays one could be a good replacement (though Smile say they will insure 4phones each upto £600 value, but dont know the bank well). Not gonna close my Natwest just downgrade the benefits package.

Sounds like a bit of effort just for the iPhone insurance but it wont be that bad and lets me get the 32Gb I wanted - though I cant order til tomorrow now as I need to check they cover the iPhone etc over the phone. That should still mean I get my iPhone on Friday though (bloody better be :p)...

Decided against a new contract now! Have 2 months to go on mine so going to buy a PAYG on friday (Well, the gf is etching it for me as I'll be at work :() run my contract down then go for the £20 simplicity with Data bolt on, shouldn't be any issues with that should there?

Just noticed they charge more for the tariffs. They are charging me £45/month when I'm sure O2 only wanted £44.01 or something like that. Or is £45/month just written to make things easier?

I hope they're not a dodgy company, no "my account" or anything on the webpage.

Hey guys,

not sure if this has already been asked but I'm a v1 user with an o2 simplicity contract. I originally bought the phone new from an apple store for around £250-£300 (can't remember exactly how much it was). With the 3GS will I have to buy a PAYG phone in order to use my sim? I really don't see how they can charge £200+ more for the phone than the v1. Any clarification would be appreciated!

Yes, to use the phone on your current SIM you need to buy a PAYG handset. The original iPhone was sold on the premise that you would go home and set up an iPhone tariff on iTunes (their biggest mistake), so essentially it was sold part-substardised.

They learned from their mistakes and now do a fully substaridised phone on contract and a non-substardised phone on PAYG.

Gotcha, cheers for the heads up!
