*** The iPhone 3G S Thread - All iPhone 3G S Related Stuff In Here ***

Im having problems registering my iPhone - its activated so thats fine (mad a call and got the O2 texts for MMS), but somehow Ive got an apple ID connected to my personal email address when Ive never had an Apple product before

Would O2 have set something up? Tried to get it to reset password but the email hasnt turned up yet and that was around an hour ago...

Very confused and so far not impressed with the setup (had to guess how to put in the SIM - no instructions given - Im not stupid, just obviously taken care to not fudge this up when directed. Do you only get a Fingertips guide and Product Info guide?

Whats push exactly?
Where does one set that I cannot find a 'push' in the main settings?

settings/mail contacts calendars/ push is in there.

Also turn 'location services' to off when not needed. That uses a lot of power.
Also when youre using an app a lot and not needing the 3g network you can take the phone off 3g Itll go onto 2g and that will save a bit. I personally don't do that that but it'll maximise the battery.

Whoo! 1000 posts!!!!:D

what's that? Once I set it up at 10% and it's just comfortably tolerable in the house when I go out and it's brighter out 10% won't be bright enough so I'll have to turn it up to see the screen so hopefully with auto-brightness it'll up the brightness enough without me manually having to turn if up. At 10% in bright light on 'set' it's not enough.:D

whoo! One post away from a thousand lol.

so if you set brightness to 10-15% then head out with your iPhone when you need the have the brighness higher having it on auto sorts this problem out?

Hi guys, waiting to get my 3gs hopefully this week.

My main question is when you scroll fast through a website has the chequerboard effect now less noticeable on the 3gs? The 256Mb RAM was supposed to help with this but I have found no one referencing it yet.

Quick question guys - anyone got the Power Support Crystal/Anti-Glare films on their iPhone? Which of the two is the best? They areboth on the Apple Store...

ps3ud0

Bought the crystal clear over weekend, you get two protectors and sticky film to remove dirt. Very very good product but I managed to bork one of the films and was well ****** off. I find these things really hard to align, if you get it don’t start from the home button end but try from the ear speaker end. the problem is by the time you run the protector towards the other end its misaligned.

Think I should have gone with invisishield thing from CPWH, they are on offer for £11 with code. That uses a liquid to align first but worried that may run into iphone!!!

I had a play with the 3GS in O2 the other day and I love it. The only thing missing before which stopped me getting an iPhone is video, and now it has it I am in love!

Need to wait a week while I raise some funds to buy one.

So, is the extra 16Gb worth £100? Not sure I can justify spending £0.5k on a phone!!

im with lloyds tsb and get my phone insurance with them, covers theft and damage for £7.95 a month, also has a couple nice things like rac breakdown cover and travel insurance

Is the speed difference on the web noticable? The 3GS is HSDPA (3.5G) isn't it?

I've got a 3G and a 3GS and the 3GS is noticeably faster. But IIRC I read that the 7.2mbps coverage is only in certain parts of London, and consequently that the speed increase we're noticing is the processor of the iPhone rendering the page faster not the phone downloading the data faster (comparing both phones on WiFi seems to prove this too).

I also am running both the 3G and the 3GS at the moment (waiting for my number to be ported) and have also noticed a differnce in speed. The 3GS is definitely quicker running applications, and loading web pages.

Having had the 3G(S) since friday, here's my comments so far on 16GB 3G (July '08 Launch Week) going to 32GB 3G(S) (June '09 Launch Week):
  • Camera far better on 3G(S)
  • General applications / OS / booting a lot faster on 3G(S)
  • Web pages faster on 3G(S) even when on WiFi (due to the faster processor)
  • Volume maybe slightly louder on 3G(S)
  • Screen definitely an improvement on 3G(S)
  • Silent switch and home button feel far more sturdy/stronger on 3G(S)
  • Vibrate on 3G(S) is weaker/worse than the 3G
  • GPS gets a lock far faster on 3G(S) but sometimes is literally a mile out whereas 3G was always correct

Gave her both of them yesterday to play with and she couldn't tell the difference :( hehe!

If you have certain levels of account (Platinum and up IIRC) then it's included in the monthly account fee AFAIK.
