*** The iPhone 3G S Thread - All iPhone 3G S Related Stuff In Here ***

By the time the iPhone 2G turned up USIMs were pretty much standard so even though it was only enabled for 2G it can support 3G services in a 3G phone.

From what you said earlier to me it sounded like the SIM you used in the iPhone 2G was from a previous phone - so theres a chance its not a USIM - Id definitely argue with O2 if thats the case to get a replacement, its irrelevant that your area might not have the best 3G signal - removing the SIM out of the equation will let you figure that out further...

EDIT: Actually re-reading it sounds like the original SIM was only from the iPhone 2G -so Id agree its a USIM. Sorry about the confusion...
EDIT2: Regards your signal, unfortunately the iPhone 3G (and so Id expect the 3Gs - though now it supporting HDSPA that may have changed - anyone want to clarify?) didnt have the best 3G radio antennae and kinda crap at picking up 3G signals in areas that had poor coverage in the first place...

Same here, but I can't complain as I wangled all the mins/texts/data I need for £17 a while back :D

 git! :D

Going to be switching down to £20 simplicity in August when I can move my contract down, so will save a bit more each month :)

iphone seems to eat batteries for lunch! Must buy dock! I'm guessing the official one from Apple store would be the best idea! :)

Picked up my 32gb in black earlier today, all up and running nice and smoothly.

Have moved from a HTC Diamond -> HTC Touch HD and finally onto the iPhone 3GS, at last I think I'm going to be happy with my phone.

Also really want Tom Tom to be available, anyone any idea when the UK version will be out?

All that's left now is to get all the apps I need onto it and port my number over when my PAC code arrives next week from Orange.

Just to let you guys know (if you dont already) but there is a high street catalogue shop that is doing 2x £15 iTunes cards for £20.

Ive got some today in readiness for buying Tom Tom etc...

I believe it ends tomorrow though...

In other news: What a decent headphone adapter? So I can listen to music on my EX90s but take calls too.

Lichfield had a 16gb in white, I didn't want white due to its gayness ;)

Yeah, I bought the 32GB in white because there were no black ones left. I don't mind it too much but I think I prefer the black. That said, eventually I'll have it in some sort of skin so won't even see the back anyway.

I'll miss my old black 3G though.

As far as 3G coverage is concerned, I'm finding it's not as good around here as on T-Mobile (that could just be the phone mind you), got it fine in the house, but certain places I get 3-4 bars with tmob we're only getting GPRS with the iPhone. I remember reading a while ago that O2 didn't invest heavily enough in the early days of 3G and as such have been playing catch-up somewhat with the others.

I didn't need a 32GB, 16GB is more than enough for me but as the only one available was white I chose the 32GB in black. It feels much quicker than my 2G device and is much better for it.

Good idea about buying the cards, i just hope TomTom will by available via the Itunes store.

O2 are sending me a new sim card. Another question now as I reset my old 2g device but now it's asking for a sim which of course is now in my new iPhone. Do I need a sim to use it purely as an iPod?
