I'm thinking about getting an iPhone in the next few days and was just wondering what insurance options people have gone for?

I've seen the O2 one for £10 a month (which I think is ridiculously steep) and I've seen some 3rd party ones for around £5 a month.

I know there's the possibility of home/bank insurance covering this, but just wanted to know what other iPhone users have done in the same situation.

Cheers :)

I had a basic Natwest Current Plus account so I upgraded it to a Blue Account to get the complimentary mobile phone insurance. The account cost £7.50 a month which is pretty good I think.

Hi,

Funny you should mention that as I'm with Natwest! I've had a quick look at that and they've got the £12.99 option for a handset worth up to £500 (including iPhones) and free breakdown cover (which would also be handy) so I may as well go for that option.

So glad I'm getting one instead of continuing with WinMo devices (and so glad T-Mobile were useless getting the Touch Pro onto their network, otherwise I'd be stuck for another year or so before I could think of upgrading).

Ahhhh just went back on the website and saw that the blue option doesn't cover iphones. I'll have to upgrade to the gold one as well :(

So best, unobtrusive case then guys?

I don't want an invisible shield or other funny wrap on it as they feel funny on the case and after a while become discoloured.

At the moment I am just thinking about getting a 'foof' case and leaving the phone naked as it is insured :)

hi guys im already on O2 can i just go to the apple store and pick one up or is it better just to upgrade through O2 Upgrades? i have a feeling upgrading through O2 will be the better option in the long run (like keeping my number etc).

If i try getting one through O2 retentions is there any chancei might get a better deal for the iphone?

Hi All

Anyone have any ideas on where I can get a pai of headphones with the facility to skip track etc on an in-line remote - can the ones in the box do this ?

check with your household contents insurer - most cover items you carry with you, i dropped my old iphone and broke it, was given the money to buy a new one - they replace like for like or new for old, i had a 2g iphone and was given the money to buy a new 16gb 3Gs

anyone noticed when in a call and the phone had 3g signal and you drive/walk out and it swithches to a 2g signal that the call gets cut off and ya have to redial again? bloddy annoying as my nokia switched between both seamlessly and phone always stay connected? def an iphone problem that apple need to sort out!

It is the best phone I have EVER had. I cannot put it down at the moment.

I am texting people pointless stuff just so I get to use it! haha!
The excitement will probably wear off soon but coming from a Touch HD on Windows Mobile (used for 6 months) to this is just unbelievable.

As an example, I got (stupidly seeing as it is an easy journey) lost on the way to Biggin Hill on Sunday, literally within 1 minute I had loaded up maps, found my location, found Biggin Hill as destination and had a route on the screen. Plus, with the built in compass functionality on the maps I knew where I was facing and where to go.

I had a similar situation with my Touch HD a few months back, took me about 4 minutes to actually get a GPS signal and find my location, then with more problems trying to do other bits within Google Maps on it, I ended up giving up completely.

I was also worried about the texting on it as I am not used to using a full on screen keyboard, but the text prediction is so intuitive and just makes everything so easy to do.

I was worried about the paying £440 for the PAYG version but my God I am glad I did. I am no Apple fan but this is one hell of a bit of kit! :)

I've had my 1st Gen one like 15 months now and it STILL amazes me everytime i use it.

I was in liverpool over the weekend, and i couldn't tell you how useful Maps was, I was able to find pretty much everywhere with it. Even without the compass, i didn't have that much trouble locating myself and find my way round. I have to say without it, i would've gotten lost a few times over the weekend.

I use it as my ipod, i dont use my Classic anymore, just put the headphones in, and press the inline button and off i go. I have photos on it (VERY easy to flick through), I twitter with it (very easy), check emails (1 click), and a dozen other stuff. I honestly don't see how people can say other phones are better. It is not just what other smartphones can do, it's how the iphone does it that sets it apart.

I'm seriously tempted by a 3GS, but I've got two questions:

1) is it worth upgrading from an 8gb 2G?
2) do normal (i.e. Non-Apple) headphones fit? I've been using an adapter with my 2G to use my Sennheiser's, but they're prone to breaking and I'd rather do away with the adapter all together!

1. Yes
2. Yes :)

Picked up a 32GB 3GS yesterday and it's brilliant.

However, I honestly don't think it's worth upgrading from a 3G or even a 2G. All the features that make you go "wow" can be done on my dad's 16GB 2G model.

If I already had a 2G/3G I'm not sure I'd be in a rush to upgrade for any reason other than to be ostentatious. Then again, I'm sure people on here can justify splashing out for the few extra features :) I'm a little disappointed because there's nothing really that ground breaking or innovative about the 3Gs model. It's not as if the 2G/3G model was slow, either!

Browsing the web at non-dialup speeds cannot be done on the 2G ;)

Just itching to get mine now, had to change order to a black as place am getting it from now don't know when they'll have stock. After playing with my wife's 3Gs going back to my MDA Vario III is painful - and to think, I used to like the phone!
