*** The iPhone 3G S Thread - All iPhone 3G S Related Stuff In Here ***

Quick question as I'm new to iphones... in my message inbox, it groups all texts by the contact (a la ichat).... this is useful for a 'conversation', not so useful over great time. In fact, it is damned annoying. Anyway to configure it? (or kill it?)

Also, it doesn't actually work all the time. For instance, I have two 'sets' of my sister in there....

You can delete the individual threads, or delete the whole conversation.

No way to disable it entirely though.

This phone just gets better and better for me.

The Flixter app for example, I just installed it, opened it up and checked 'Box Office', clicked through to the new Ice Age movie, within a split second it had all the information etc. then I clicked on trailer, it flicked to full screen and played immediately.

Bloody incredible!

Damn and blast, after saying that they'd ship one out two days ago it's now not going out until they get stock in tomorrow...gah! I really wanted to have a play with it on my day off.

Brilliant when something is so smooth and perfect just makes you :D

Saying that, my 2 dl's from app store are now sat at waiting :( hehe

Hopefully if the stock checker on apple.com/uk tomorrow gives me the okay - I plan on marching my behind to the Apple store to pick me up a brand new 16GB White iPhone 3GS on Saturday :D Can't wait ;)

Anyone know if the following would be possible?

I currently have an O2 online contract with 1-2 months remaining and I'm wanting to get a 3GS.

Basically the only place near me that has it in stock is the Apple store, so that would mean I'd have to get it from there.

Would it be possible for me to go there and pay off my current contract, take out a new iPhone contract and keep my current O2 number? Or would I have to get a new contract out at the Apple store then pay off my current contract over the phone with O2? Then transfer my number using the PAC code from paying off my existing contract.

Cheers :)

Call O2, you will be able to buy out your contract and upgrade to the iPhone.

They wanted £105 off me.

I bought 1 sim free and then will go sim only in september.

£105 to pay off the contract and for the iPhone?

O2 currently have no stock though, I phoned them with a few questions yesterday only to be told this.

You could buy the iPhone from Apple on Pay and Go, then when your renewal with O2 comes up switch your contract over to a Simplicity tariff.

Or, negotiate a new contract without a new handset and they will likely give you a very good deal (pretend you want to cancel)

No £105 to buy out the contract + the cost of the iPhone which I didn't get round to discussing.

Managed to get a black iPhone 16GB 3GS in O2's delivery yesterday on the £35 18 month contract. I got my dispatch email last night from O2 with a DHL tracking number, I assume they won't deliver on a Saturday? The DHL tracking is down.

Woo got myself the 16Gb White iPhone 3G!!

Will take some pictures of this beast as soon as I can stop playing with it and throw them into the Apple Hardware Pics thread ;)

Woop finally managed to get one ordered.

Upgraded my current contract, only paid £39 with 3 months left to upgrade early!

Went for the £45 a month 18 month contract, £87.11 for the White 16GB 3GS and will downgrade to the £35 a month after 9.

Happy as, can't wait for delivery :)

Was your current contact on an iPhone?

Popped into my local o2 in North Wales, and had a play. I'm pretty much sold on buying one now over a XDA, I just for once fancy a nice phone, 'simple' layout and use, and a phone I can't flash new ROM every week so as too try and get it all working well.

They also had a large amount of black and while 32gb ones left, no 16gb, and she said no one had even asked about the 8gb so they had initial stock left.

Got a 16GB 3GS yesterday in black.
Loving it.
Lot easier to use and set up than Winmo. Got Exchange sync up and running in minutes and nice not having to rely on Activesync or Windows Mobile Device centre.
Wifi works a treat and started to fill it with apps.

Fed up of the constant rom flashing in winmo.

Why on earth have O2 taken away most of the bolt ons for iPhone contracts? Much to dismay today, I found out I can't have the unlimited O2 to O2 calls on my new contract. I probably wouldn't of taken it out if I knew that! :(

Will have to see how far my 600 mins takes me every month.
