*** The iPhone 3G S Thread - All iPhone 3G S Related Stuff In Here ***

Browsing the web at non-dialup speeds cannot be done on the 2G ;)

Just itching to get mine now, had to change order to a black as place am getting it from now don't know when they'll have stock. After playing with my wife's 3Gs going back to my MDA Vario III is painful - and to think, I used to like the phone!

I remember saying he compared it to a colleague's 3G at work and they were identical at loading web pages without Wi-Fi. Perhaps a poor signal?

just a quick question , is it worth buying the iphone if theres no 3g network where i live ?
Well, I travel frequently and don't have 3G most places I go.... I still have an iphone. Just to hammer home the point, before that I had an ipod touch... which has no network coverage :D

I took delivery of a lovely black 3GS 32GB this morning :D

First impressions is 'wow'. Everything is so snappy compared to my Xperia X1. So much easier to use this!

Got it on charge and a case to protect it is coming! :)

Had it 2 days now and the thing is simply awesome. Don't feel like a geek either as it's an iPhone lol :D

I mean how can they genuinely improve the thing? Maybe more storage space, maybe a design that sets it apart from the older iPhones. The thing is flawless, what more could you want?

ive had mine since launch day and now find the battery life improving greatly after going through full discharge and charge cycles.

the only thing that ticks me off is not be able to use the map abroad without incurring high charges. its a shame google maps cant be cached into memory so you only use gps. there is an app called offmap but it uses open sourced maps which seem to miss great chunks of detail.

I tested my 3GS against a 3G.

Test was, off to GPS lock.

Mine was locked before the 3G even got into maps, and to top it off, the 3G couldn't even get a GPS lock (although I can't believe its that bad!)

12 days on, loving my 3gs in white :)

Only single issue is getting Jaadu connecting from none home locations, but aside from that, 100% flawless! :) battery life is getting much better, bought it on PAYG for £450 and its nice, that after spending that amount on a phone, I have literally no regrets about it, no comprimises, it just does everything :D

Liking that, too, beats try to work round the proxy at work! :)

All I need to do now is sort a case, but still wanna be able to see the white back of my iphone, hmm!

Okay! I'm ready to purchase my iPhone 3GS :D Question is...

Where shall I get it? :p I'm getting it on PAYG - just checked the Apple Store UK and they have it on there but have it for delivery in 5 days?!

Also checked o2 and Carphone Warehouse, only to see they are out of stock :(

Any idea when they will have stock? May give them a ring tomorrow :p

Just ordered my 32gb 3GS from the Apple website this morning.
Priced at $1040 (510 quid) and completely unlocked as sold by Apple (no contract either).

For once it seems something is cheaper and better in Oz (unlocked).

Just got to wait 5 days for it to be delivered now :D

Do you have a local Apple store? If so, mosying on down there would prob be the quickest option.
Unfortunatly, my nearest Apple store is an hour train ride away (I currently don't own a car :()

It is a possibility, it would just be a pain to have to fork out around £10 just to get to the Apple Store :p

it just does everything :D

Except you can't bluetooth file's from or to other phone's which is really p*****g me off! Even ancient phone's can do that. I know it's probably because Apple don't want people swapping song's but come on.

Oh also I hate how when I've got ton's of messages in my inbox I can't delete them all in one go, but have to delete them individually which take's a while when I've got so many. Annoying.

This may be a very silly question but would an unlocked Australian or American iphone be identical to the UK version? Could exchange rates not be taken advantage of?

You can.

You just swipe over that contact, instead over the messages itself.

My 3G connection is blazing in comparison to my ADSL connection.

Oh the joys of living miles in the country
