apparently virgin media are having issues with american websites.

Managed to fix it by changing my DNS settings, others having this issue look here https://www.opendns.com/start/device/windows-vista

The apps i have paid for - will i have to REBUY them as it has done a restore and they arn't there.

edit: i have to rebuy 'geared' apparently, wtf... only bought it last night.

If you backed the apps up from the phone to iTunes before updating, then no - just re-sync them (your PC/Mac must be authorized to iTunes for this to work). If you didn't, and you've had to do a restore, then yes, since iTunes on the PC will have no record of the app.

I think this is incorrect. If u did not backup don't worry. Apple will know which app u have purchase when u downloaded them on iPhone or itune if u download same app again u won't be charged. You will get a pop up dating u already purchased that app and u can download it free
 
No Berserker is correct (well you both are)...

If he hasnt backed up onto iTunes on his PC it wont have locally backed up his purchased apps and therefore it cant restore them. He will however still be able to download them individually for free via iTunes and it will remember the initial transaction.

Its just a PITA to remember what youve bought and download them one by one if you havent backed them up...

Whilst im on the forum might as well ask another question.....I have dust under my 3G screen -_- im booked in for an appointment in the genius bar on sunday and was just wondering what will happen? only a few months old....is it likely to get repaired or replaced? cant really do without a phone whilst it gets repaired if it did :\

that would annoy me if I had grit under my protector. try using sellotape to lift up the protector and then use sellotape again to remove the grit, or I guess you have a spare protector?
 
Don't know about anyone else but I seem to be getting a bit more battery life out of my iPhone 3g. I suppose because of something in the 3.1 update. :)
 
My battery lasts around 2days!

Charged it saturday night and then didnt have to charge till tuesday night (ohh thats 3 days!)

How do you get that? I have only just got mine, so am playing with it a lot, but I can barely get a day! Are there any tips to get more from the battery?
