Well it's a completely different situation. The original phone wasn't subsidised, the 3G was subsidised so they're quite within their rights to insist on the contract being completed or asking people to buy themselves out of it.
It's understandable from o2's part that they are doing this. I think the fact that they didn't do it from the 2G-3G has thrown a lot of people.
Like I said in the other thread, it's going to cost me £700 just to get the 3Gs then start a new 18 month contract at £42 a month. I don't feel that the hardware update justifies the cost. The extra space for the 32GB would be nice but it's not essential. It's certainly not worth £91 per GB!

O2 have got to be joking! £14.68 for 3GB.
I've already got a Three USB stick and get 15GB for £15.

Looks pretty impressive, especially TomTom. But does anyone know the situation with the old 16GB stock? Are we still able to purchase these (from O2/AppleStore)?
Dont forget the 8GB model is the old 3G version, not the new 'S' version

Makes you wonder how much TomTom are going to charge for the mobile app.
I doubt they'll allow an iPhone app trump their £300+ standalone units. I'm secretly praying it doesn't fair too well.. I just bought a 540 Go Live

Well seeing as i've managed to navigate quite nicely with my current iPhone 2G, if they think they can charge > £50 for the app then they can get stuffed.
My names down at the Bristol O2 store, bring on the 19th!
I rang around a few O2 stores in Gateshead and was told no pre orders first come first served....
