*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

Is there anyway that I can have my phone check for mail itself instead of me having to check it all the time.

I'd rather just know when I have mail instead of checking myself!

Let us know,

Cheers,

James07

James07, I think you're looking for 'push email'. Microsoft Exchange can do it and I think maybe MobileMe as well. Await someone who knows or has experience. :D

Struggling to justify a PAYG purchase on Tuesday. The HTC Touch Diamond/Pro is taking my eye away. News of the 2.1 patch not being as amazing as I'd hoped, isn't helping.

If you are not using Push, you can choose in the menu to 'Fetch' and you set how often it should do it.

I'm thinking about getting one of these phones on Pay&Go tomorrow, would i be able to just put my Simplicity sim it or do you have to use the sim that comes with the phone?

I don't want to have to use a Pay&Go tariff.

You'll have to ask the shop about that one dude.

Unless someone here knows.

You can always ring Cust Serv on the free number provided with your sim?

Useless Git, I think they put you on the new tariff / sim and you can change back to anything you like after that.

I think that's because they have to use a new sim to activate 3g capabilities and also to tie the free year of Wi-Fi to a number.

I've fought with my mind over the last couple of days and it looks like I'll be getting an iPhone tomorrow - hopefully I can just walk in and get one although I fear there may be something of a queue and I'm too proud to stand in one before the shop opens.

iPhone out on PAYG Tommorrow

Just wondering if anyone realised that the iPhone is out on PAYG Tommorrow, there seems to be a total silence from O2 about it. I think they must be doing pretty well with the contracts.

Prices are £350 for 8Gb and £400 for 16Gb. This also includes 12 Months of free data/wi-fi.

I'll be buying one first thing tommorrow!

Below you can see my crude calculation which says that if you spend less that £17 a month on PAYG you will be better off with PAYG

I'm thinking of getting one tomorrow. Still undecided, won't be able to go till after work though meaning it will be a long day!

I would be running it along side my current contract for a couple of months (I'm inpatient!) and the way the o2 site makes it out is that you have to top-up by £10 a month minimum. Does anyone read it like that or do you think that you just have to do 1 £10 top-up on activation?
As i wouldn't be using it as a phone for a couple of months just as an ipod touch with mobile browsing.

Thats what I'm going to do. I was just going to get the Data bolt on for a couple of months on my Contract, then activate the PAYG SIM after to make the most of the free internet.

I certainly won't be paying £400 just for an iPhone... I currently have the SE C902 - have had it for about 2 or 3 months now and it's starting to bug me... keeps freezing... alarm doesn't work - all problems that are quite popular it seems!!

Although thinking about grabbing the iPhone, I've thought about it and although it has the cool apps and display, it has a rubbish 2MP camera with no flash. :( I use my camera phone a lot so I think I'll be waiting for the next iPhone, hoping for a better camera and maybe a cool lil flash :p

Woot Im first in the queue - only 8hrs to wait now

Slogans due any second ;)...

What does £17 a month mean in real life calls and texts? So used to FlexT and the stupid allowance I have (dont even use 1/3 of it).

ps3ud0
