*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

Guys has anyone with current iPhone used Mediamonkey to sync music, podcasts and videos. The reason I'm asking is that if it works flawlessly then it would save me to download iTunes. Can i also use it to download (doubtful) updates?

does anyone know if you still can move from an o2 simplicity contract to the iphone contract (like a port) or has it changed with the 3g version?
I called O2 about my simplicity contract and they said I can either upgrade my simplicity contract to an iPhone tariff, which will cancel the simplicity plan automatically, or buy the iPhone and then call O2 on the same day to have my simplicity contract cancelled. No substantial difference between either method but I'm doing the latter because I want my iPhone contract associated with a different O2.co.uk account, which can't be done if the contract is upgraded.

Loooking at my finances again, i think I can afford the £35 a month contract, but the question is that i won't use all those minutes ! Hmmmmmmmmmm

Slightly off-topic, but how does the iphone tariffs compare to the WnW ones from TMobile?

Afraid I cant get on to the website from work atm...

ps3ud0

went into my local o2 shop today and they were such muppets i just dont wanna buy it from there... anyone know if its possible to get it online and get it on or shortly after release day?

Doubt it, not unless some stores take pre-orders.

You could always buy it at a Carphone Warehouse, or try a different 02 store.

Also, is this the man formally known as QuIkSilVeR?

My local O2 is similarly useless. Can anyone recommend a good O2 store in central London?

I called O2's store at 368 Oxford Street (opposite Bond Street station) and asked if it was possible to reserve an iPhone. They said I could come down and put my name on a list if I wanted a phone to be held for me on July 11th. Popped down and did so. It didn't cost me anything and they'll call me to confirm they have a phone for me closer to the time, but they'll only hold it on the 11th.

They're only allowing 250 phones to be reserved and I was about 230 on the list, so anyone in London who wants to be (relatively) sure of a phone should head down there tomorrow morning. That branch must be getting in hundreds of units if they're prepared to hold 250 on July 11th.

Do you have to actually go in, or can you can and reserve?

Not sure. I was in the area and thought I might as well go around myself, but all of the recent entries above mine were in different hand writing so I assume you have to do it in person.

Hmm, seems like those who allowed people to place iPhone 3G's on hold are being told not to honour them?

http://www.appleinsider.com/article..._employees_on_iphone_3g_launch_questions.html

"You may not place iPhone 3G on hold for anyone. No exceptions. Do not create a waitlist," Apple corporate told store managers in the document. "It is critical that all stores follow the same process to ensure every customer has an equal and fair opportunity to purchase a phone."

Well, that sucks. :(

In that case, i'll probaby go into birmingham on the 11th, but it'll be about 10am I aint going in for 7...

and yes, SooTyLaD is the new QuiKsiLVeR ;)

sorry if this has already been answered but i cant seem to find a definitive answer

is the UK PAYG pricing confirmed to be more expensive than the contract prices ?

I thought they were, but ive just read a link a couple of posts up that appears to confirm they'll be the same.
