*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

Quick question for those in the know. Are there any rumours/reports for a new model of the iPhone anytime soon?

not really - some time this year I heard a rumour.... A RUMOUR there's supposed to be a 32gb version coming out, not sure if its true though.

you wont need it though :p 16gb is plenty for me - has all my music and the odd movie when does anyone have time to go through 16gb of music and some movies?

I do.

16GB fitted about 1/5 of all my music on it.

Yeah I went from an 80gb iPod to just carrying an 8gb iPhone around with me, and even with the 80gb I was constantly removing songs to put others on it as it was always full.
I don't mind though, if I know I'm gonna be away from home and want my whole library available to me I just use Simplify :D

although i agree 16gb is a tad small id rather have one with better battery life than with 32gb. tho

I went for the 8GB precisely because 16GB is way too small for me. I haven't even put any tracks on my iPhone yet. I think it'll probably be the 'classics' that I want when I'm out and about.

Until they bring out a 60+GB with better battery life there's little point using it for music for me.

has anyone actually tried and like swapping the storage from an iphone and an ipod touch?
If it's even possible, there's not much point. They're the same modules. The only difference is, the iPod Touch can take 2 modules whereas the iPhone can only fit 1 - hence we need to wait for a 32Gb module to be manufactured before we get a 32Gb iPhone.

yeah - problem is, its a mobile device so the batter life is limited, so you will never get to listen to 80gb of music whether you like it or not, you'd be better off using orb and leave your pc on. but you'd still run out of batter well into the first 4gb of music played. making the request for more memory pretty redundant.

I don't think anyone wants to listen to 80Gb of music in one sitting, but just wants to have the choice of what to listen to without having to resync and take albums off and put different ones on. I have an 8Gb iPhone, and I get bored of my selection quite quickly or just fancy listening to something that I don't have on it.

you troll through 80gb of music manually just to select 1 track? I mean the iphone doesnt have the best browsing method :p you got a thousand songs beginning with m and your screwed. just put it on a playlist and random instead of being so picky.

You've never heard of Albums and Artists then? If you're browsing music purely by trackname, I think you need to read the manual!

Now that it's unlockable.. I just whack my T-Mobile Web 'n' Walk sim and its fine, browsing and it wont know the difference?

Anyone selling their 3G? :p

Quick question for those with the iphone on O2. The 02 website says you get two free bolt ons: "unlimited data and unlimited Wi-Fi Bolt Ons". Can these bolt ons be changed as soon as you start the contract e.g. Drop the wifi bolt on and have unlimited texts?

Not really, because he will end up paying double what it costs for his missus iphone on contract. Anything from £750 basic, to £1000+ over the 18 months.(for the whole term of the contract)

Where as he could buy a PAYG (yeah, expensive at £300) say 'here yar love' and she tops it up when she wants thus saving him the monthly bill & and the overall spend of £750-£1000.

You can't drop or substitute the included bolt-ons, but you can pay extra and add unlimited texts.
