*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

HI

I've been offered a good deal on a reconditioned 3g ipod by O2, couple of questions.

1. whats the cheapest deal anyone has got out of O2
2. Does any one know when the 3g is going to be replaced.
3. IS the software update going to be free?

Thanks for the help

1. Can't help you there unfortunatly - never tried to get a deal.

2. 3G is rumoured to be replaced sometime in Late June/Early July. Time will tell. It is rumoured to be announced at Apples WWDC in Early June.

3. It has been announced that iPhone 3.0 will be free for all iPhone owners. iPod Touch owners will have to pay 9.99$.

Hey guys. My contract with T-Mobile is up at the end of this month and nothing on their upgrade lists tickles my fancy so I have been looking at the iPhone, I'm pretty sure the price of an 8GB iPhone on the £35p/m (18 month) contract was £50odd a few days ago but I've just checked and it's £96! Has this recently changed? I'm really not up for getting a 24 month contract, I'm not even terribly happy with an 18 month contract but that seems to be the norm now.

Are there any tariff changes due? I know the new iPhone is expected in July sometime and that may drive the iPhone 3G's price down but I really need a phone before then.

Cheers,

Craig

Anyone had problems with loose screens? Mines come loose down the side and has let dust get in behind the screen.

O2 online advised me to take it into the shop and see what they could do, I have a launch day phone.

Thanks

Then I'll loose my current mobile number! I really don't want to have to change it as I'm rubbish with numbers and I like the one I have now :p
How? You're 12/18-months with T-mobile comes to and end and you're on a monthly rolling contract that you can quit at any time. You can stay another month or another 5 years with the same phone and deal.

Seriously? I thought once my 18 months was up then I had to renew for another 18 months, thanks for letting me know - I wasn't aware of this :) I'll hold off and see what the new iPhone is like before taking the plunge!

Cheers again.

Exactly what I'm doing, my contract has just finished this month. I always get itchy fingers at this time as I'm usually desperate for a new phone. I'm waiting to see what the new iPhone has to offer first but I'm pretty certain that's what I'll end up going for, its the only one that really appeals to me. Lets hope we have some positive news come the WWDC.

AFAIK. They will certainly do it for 1 speck of dust, as I had mine replaced for that very reason with no questions asked.

Yes, they will replace handsets with dust under the glass or dead pixels.

I had many handsets changed (at least 4) :D (OCD)

So if I was to take my iPhone back to the Apple Store where I bought it from (its got a lot of dust under the screen) they should replace it?

It's getting hard to resist buying the iPhone 3g now... but I know something will happen at WWDC and must wait :(

You'd be a fool to buy one now, although don't expect anything to ship in June.

I'm thinking a "available in 2-3 weeks" message so they release in July, worldwide.

Oh yeah theres no doubt in my mind. In fact I'd say the date in the recent rumour of "17th July" sounds about right...

I must stay strong :p

I'm in the same boat.. I want a new phone and I need to get off pay as you go but really dont want to have to wait until the end of july :(

I know that if i do buy now I'll probably hugely regret it when the new one comes out, thats the only thing stopping me at the moment haha.
