*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

I know! I'm gonna dry it out - the battery fell out before it made splashdown, so I'm hoping that nothing shorted out and I can get it dry enough to work!

CPW have these available for delivery tomorrow.

Just ordered a 16gig for store pickup tomorrow. They had ~4000 units for pre-order. Those went in a few hours. They have just taken a massive delivery and are infact taking orders for delivery tomorrow.

Go go go :)

Richie.

Thanks for the info, I just ordered a 16GB one for store collection. How do I know when it is available for collection?

i never really thought the tariffs were that bad, but to be honest i think the extra is worth it for the unlimited tinternet...

if this can be used to connect my macbook to the net wherever i am (as rumoured) then the extra is definitely worth it!

So, with this O2 contract do you get free warranty? :)

Just ordered mine for pick up tomorrow.

Pity it's through CPW, rather than proper O2. I'm going to walk past the O2 store in the morning and if it's not busy and they have stock I'll pick one up there and cancel my CPW one.
i would kinda prefer to order from o2 but i'm not sure why... i think cpw are only a retailer the contract and everything is still direct to o2 as far as i know?

Are you a new customer? or upgrading?

I wanted to avoid CPW if i could, but by the sounds of it i'll have to upgrade at CPW, if i can? (Are CPW doing upgrades?)

Cheers

After you ring them and find out if it is in?

Seems like the store pick ups will be from different stock and as such they might be selling iphones before yours has arrived.

So will we just be able to walk in, buy the iPhone if we are an existing customer? Bung in my old sim and jobs a good en?

I don't want to faff about signing up again. Do i have to start a new Direct Debit? My mother lives in Portugal and she is paying for the contract on my original iPhone.

If it's in her name she'll need to do the upgrade.

I'm going to head to the Oxford O2 store tomorrow morning and hope they can do upgrades in store - some places say yes, some places say no.

Just calling around a few shops to see which they have in stock. First store I called has 2x 16gb and 9x8gb...it's a bit of a let down to be honest. They knew what the demand was like for the first version so why haven't they bumped it up for this one?

Do you think Apple wouldn't have made more if they could? Demand for the 1st one wasn't that high. My gf walked past the apple store at 5 o'clocl before the 1st one launched at 6.02 and there was a whopping 5 people waiting for it, and that's in Glasgow.
It is launching in 22 different countries at the same time. Imagine the bitch fest that would be going on if they launched here even a month later, you would be going nuts!

Nope O2 brand the CPW produce and you use the network, but you are a CPW customer. If you are on O2 via CPW the O2 will not speak to you, you have to do everything through CPW.

CWP do suck badly and I've never been direct with O2 so I can't compare.

Ridiculous if you cant get one at CPW tomorrow if you havent preordered as it doesnt let you if you're an existing customer

Thats where I'm going to try first, shame they arent opening early
