*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

my battery was awful with wireless turned on.

turn it off and the battery bar doesn't move.

I only turn wireless on when i need it.

I've noticed my pulumet. I'd live a way like MW5/6 to quickly disable WIFI, 3G etc. Should take two "clicks" at least. Mines connected to wi-fi all day long.

i got sent an MMS im a new iphone 3g user. I didn't receive anything no text to go and download the image.

just seemed to get lost in the nether.

You need to phone customer service and check that MMS notifications are enabled on your account.

Doesnt it turn off Wifi when it is locked anyway?

Whenever I unlock it - the phone shows GPRS then reconnects to wifi

Number one battery drain I've found so far, GPS, by far. Had to use it today for about twenty minutes and I swear it dropped by half. I think the main problem though is having so many things to do that I couldn't do before! On my old phone I wouldn't have spent battery browsing the web or watching YouTube.. It's a victim of it's own usability.

i dont think it turns wifi off when its locked.

Ive jsut found BBC iPlayer and watched sundays top gear and a quater of my battery has gone.

But OMFG is iplayer good on it. :D:D:D

Well I fixed my problem with MMS and the alerts, it turned out when o2 signed me up they put me on a basic £35 tariff and not the Iphone tariff so I have spent loads in data etc which they are going to credit me back lol

The wifi on my touch turns off when in standby, also it disconnects when not being used. It will show wifi on, but no signal, but as soon as i fire up safari etc it connects and shows full signal.

Has anyone been to regent steet store recently, what are the lines like. As ill be in the area sometime next week i was wondering if its worth making the time to go line up.

3G signal on Iphone

Does anyone else have a problem with signal strength on the 3G network ? With 3G enabled, i get 1 bar - 2 if i'm lucky. If i disable 3G, 4-5 bars. Today i was in an area which according to O2, has full 3G coverage but still got really crap 3G signal. A bit disappointed with that :(

3G has always been like that, but it doesn't affect performance it's just how strong the signal is. As long as you don't get no bars :)

for anyone who happens to look at the following:

http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/iphone/availability.html

i can tell you that both regent street and bluewater store have no 16Gb Blacks left, despite what this site says - I checked already today. I was a little disappointed when I arrived at the Regent Street store today to be told they sold out not that long before I arrived. Damn.

Looks like the 16Gb is really sold out in most places and with no ETA. O2 are even worse and state they have none...anywhere and with no idea when they will get more...

Seem to be a lot of 16Gb White versions around if anyone wants one of those...but I don't unfortunately.

I could see me waiting a number of weeks now :( boooo

I'm with CPW and they're in the same position. No idea as to when 16gb let alone 8gb stocks will be in. I spoke to one guy today at our local branch and he reckons it'll be a solid month before both versions arrive in decent quantities. I can't handle being on this pos w880i any longer either :/
