*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

Is the iPlayer a full-on application or just a link to the website? If the latter then I'm pretty sure that it has always just grabbed the "favicon" from the site's server.

I went back into the Apple Store today and joined the que, which was shorter than yesterday.

After an hour and twenty minutes I left with a white 16gb.
The wait wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, as there were chairs to sit on, albeit a slightly surreal experience.

Very pleased with it.... only downside I've found so far is that there is a stuck pixel on it, which is so small its barely noticeable, and doesn't show up when watching videos, so no biggy. But if you buy one in store, I'd take a good look at it... which I didnt do!

Its only ever just taken a screenshot and used that for the link...

It didn't, there used to be a favicon for it.

Just browse to http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/ and it will know you're viewing on an iPhone. Just save the webpage to the iPhone launcher front end and you will get an icon which is just a link to the website. The quality is fantastic on the iPhone through the bbc website. I was really impressed.

I know, but what we're saying is it doesn't use the old iPlayer Favicon. It just uses a view of the current page instead.

On Vista/XP just plug the iPhone in and it appears like every other digital camera (ie as a drive) so you can just browse, drag and drop.
