*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

Can anyone recommend any headphones with a remote on them?

Not demoed them yet, but I expect I'll be looking at the following:

Etymotic hf2
Ultimate Ears Super.fi 4vi
Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5vi

All have remotes that will work with the iphone although I can't find the hf2s anywhere and the 5vis aren't out yet.

Picked up my 16gb iPhone from the trafford centre today. Still working out how to use it etc (is there a way to close programs down other than clicking the square button?). I am now on the hunt for apps after setting up "mobile me", which is working great apart from gmail being slow to forward to the mobile me address.

Nah - that's the button's main use. Pressing it to go back to the home screen closes the current app. You can also set a double tap on that button to certain functions in the settings menu.

Did you see if your low signal 3g was faster than full signal edge? Maybe you just made it worse for yourself?

Really don't think the 3g was that fast hence the switch to edge instead, if i'm out and about it is quick with 3g but in my house even next to a window isn't making 3g any better. (I'm going to switch it back on to see if there is any better signal which i doubt )

Got my 3G iPhone today and I've got one question about the 3G.... Am I right in assuming that it works in the same way as Edge in that you need to be in a 3G area to pick it up because so far I've seen nothing 3G related?

I ask because the first thing I did when I got it home was restore a backup of my previous iPhone so to get all my text's/contacts transfer across so am worried I've done something

Ive heard that O2 3G service is the poorest out of all the providers - though I find that hard to believe to be practical different (dno about HSDPA)...

I dno how the iPhone represents a 3G/HSDPA signal, but with WM phones its only when you are using the data connection that it gives a fair representation of what speed you are connecting at...

I suspect a 1 bar 3G is far superior than full bar EDGE

ps3ud0

My house must be in a crap area, I've just turned wi-fi off.

'Could not activate cellular data Network'

I cant get anything in my house lol

In Grantham you get the full gamut of high speed 3G.

Was in the O2 store yesterday sorting my phone out, and the amount of sad cases that were queuing for the Iphone was something else, must have been about 15 people in there, all stood wetting their pants about it, one middle aged woman there who's hubby had clearly given in to some nagging was almost orgasmic when she got it.

Unbelievable, no matter how good a phone it is, it is just a phone.
Its like when people were queuing round the block for Wii's, its not that important you get one.

Are you getting Edge reception?

Try powering it off and rebooting. This worked for me.

Hold sleep / wake key, until you get a slidey to power off.

Damn you :-(

Was this from the apple store or an O2 store? Do individual O2 stores hold back iPhones if you ask them nicely?
