How there is now streetview and goodlw earth avaialbe? I thought apple and google are rivals?

Thanks :)

Just phoned Orange, takes a 4-5 days to get my PAC code. Still semi tempted to just buy one after work... :D

Screwed mine up aswell

Well bought mine today- VERY impressed so far. Nice and snappy and everything seems very smooth.

Just need to get used to the touch typing yet, not very accurate. I've even started using it before my invisible shield turned up (I was going to wait... as if :D).

Now, tip/tricks and good apps?

JB it :p

I'm thinking of buying an iPhone 3G. However I see they're only locked to o2 in the UK? Isit possible to unlock, since I'd like to stay on my Vodafone sim.

And also if I did unlock, would I still be able to use the free internet/wifi or is that o2 only again?

Thanks.

It is possible to unlock but it can be a bit hit and miss. You can get sim card adaptors that can "unlock" the iphone, but some work some don't.
I was unlucky the first time, i got a cheap one off ebay and it did not work on t-mobile as it kept on dropping the signal every 30 seconds but worked ok with my mates orange sim. I got a rebelsim this time and it has worked not had any signal issues or anything in the 48 hours I've had it now.

What features do you lose out on with these adapters?

And ignoring price plans how would you compare O2 iPhone data service (both the contract and PAYG version) to T-Mobiles WnW? Ive always considered it the superior data package to other providers but they are catching up.

Just wondering if iPhone + T-Mobile WnW (£35 Flext price plan) is better than iPhone + O2 data (comparable O2 price plan). If it was was then I might just get the PAYG iPhone now rather than waiting for my contract to end...

The only feature that i have noticed that i cannot access is the App Store from the iPhone but i can live with that as you can still access it from iTunes and sync so no functionality lost.
Also when you sync your phone iTunes says that it is the incorrect sim card installed so you have to put your phone in airplane mode to sync then restart the phone after you've finished.

I haven't noticed a difference in the WnW or o2 data tbh, only that i get better signal on o2 than t-mobile. Where i live t-mobile is constantly switching between 3g at gprs whereas o2 is solid 3g. I prefer t-mobile because of flext but if a software unlock doesn't become available for the iphone 3g then i will get a o2 simplicity contract when mine runs out in may next year.

I will second that, im using t-mobile in a 02 payg 3g iphone with an any-network adaptor, works absolutly fine, cant access the app store but not really bothered about that i can get apps over a wifi network at any mcdonalds or just put the o2 payg sim back in (free internet for 12months) and get them that way. Only thing is you have to put the phone into airplane mode when connecting to itunes. Other than that im quite happy with how it works.

Just downloaded a wicked app from the app store called Pano, take 4/5 pics and the app merges them together to make a sweet panoramic picture. Very good app.

Well I installed my Invisible Shield this afternoon...

Wow what a pain in the ***!

Front went on pretty well but the back is a bit hit and miss and somehow I have a little missformed bump in the middle. Corners went ok but I think I trapped a little dust.

Now waiting for it to cure. Apparently you have to wait 12-24 hours :(

Will comment on how it looks after this, at the moment i'm not too impressed.

Lets know how it turns out may invest in one, at this time? maybe not!

Ok, well i've let it "set" and the phone is now on. It's actually a pretty damn good finish. The corners are a tiny bit dusty but I guess that's my own fault.

Also the corners of the shield collect dust a bit, but I suppoe that's to be expected.

Overall I'm happy it's on my phone and the fact that it's not going to get scratched up, especially with a 18 month contract...

I think they are worth investing in but literally give yourself 2-3 hours to get it all on properly :D
