I like the matte black. Not interested in one of course just wanted to say I like it for a change :p

Oh and SAF has a video out with some very valid points:

I thought you'd finally seen the light. ;)

Some fair points but ultimately they're fairly minor. As a collective package it's still entirely unique (largely down to the OS admittedly).

Just ordered a 128gb 7+ from EE for £48.80 month and £139 for handset but should get £80 back via quidco.

Makes it roughly the same price as I was going to pay for buying it outright and getting a sim only contract but this is on a faster network and with more data allowance.

Hopefully it will go through ok. Called EE and they said their online ordering system was having problems.

That's a good deal, works out around £17-18ish a month for the airtime. EE's a good network for the iPhone specifically too, with Wifi Calling and Visual Voicemail support.

Instead of a small dock you have a massive pad.

I suppise its better than plugging in on non apple phones as the plugs not reversible like lightning.

Except, most new phones are moving or have moved to USB-C which is reversible and better than lightning as it's no proprietary. :)

How do you use wireless charging? I've never seen it as that useful because I am either not using my phone when its charging so plugging in a cable is a 2 second job and I have loads of them all over the house or I am using the phone while its charging so wireless charging doesn't work.

It's on my office desk where I plonk the phone down, I have an lg watch so read notification off that, but it's always nearly Fb that I have open on the desktop anyway and I use it all the time in my car that has my wireless phone holder when I'm using sat nav... So two main places all the time, wireless charging in the car is ace, when I Park up just hop out and grab phone, no wires no hassle.

thats a very good monthly price compared to what i saw advertised, i didnt spot that one.
how much data etc...?

Check the link I posted page 70, iirc there was an ee 20gb unlimited text and mins £49 up front and £50 pm.

Those offers have gone though there is a 3 30gb unlimited T&M £52 pm £99 up front

What... that wild west standard where if you buy the wrong cable you can fry whatever you're plugging it into? Ooh yeah! I mean I'd love an open standard just to reduce the number of cables I have to have but it's never going to happen so what's the point in whittering about it?

I've been using an S7 edge for the last month or so and I have access to wireless chargers so I've got one on my desk and one at home.. I hate it.. I've now got part of my desk taken up with a pad where I used to just have a cable poking out from behind the desk and I can't use my phone and charge it at the same time? Thats bloody ridiculous so when I need that top up I end up tapping away at my phone flat on my desk like it's a tiny laptop... all this to stop me having to plug in a cable?

Or I can pick it up in which case it's on charge, off charge, on charge, off charge.. can't be good for it surely?

I've also noticed you need to have them in exactly the right place on the pad which is real fun.. I got up the other day and found my phone at 20%, I must have knocked it off the centre in the night or maybe when I was checking the time.

Now I get that with micro USB having a one way cable was sometimes a pain and the edges were more than capable of scratching your phone but with lightning you literally can't fail to get it right with your eyes closed.

Wireless charging is a great idea until you start factoring in poowerbanks, car holders etc too and yes you can get wireless versions of both of them but what an expensive PITA.

Anyone looked into getting one on their new iPhone Upgrade Programme?

Looks like a really good idea, and I'm very tempted by it due to my SIM being provided and paid for by work.

EE's offerings are garbage.

I got my 6 from them with no upfront cost, £36 a month and 20gb data when it was released. Now if I early upgrade with them on a similar plan a 32gb 7 is £50 upfront and £60 a month?

Holding on to my three £18 a month unlimited SIM only for as long as possible - these contracts are crazy prices.

Yeah, soon as my contract is up in October I'm going on a sim only three plan.

I honestly wouldn't mind if I was glued to my phone but I don't use one enough to warrant at least £1200 out over 2 years.

Insert rest of rant here.

It's never going to happen? It is happening, it has happened, the box is open.

Do you remember the whole USB 1.0 oh that's never going to catch on brigade back in the 90's, obviously they were right. Oh and the Bluetooth, what's the point in the band waggon? Guess they were right too.

You have blown out of complete proportion, some cheap manufacturers who haven't followed the ratified standard in order to make a few $ more. Look at all the copy lightning cables that were utter tosh when that first came out.

I agree up to a point but when I was doing the maths on what was the best deal, the only way sim only and buying outright was much better than the contract I found was if I got the special offer £9 month sim from 3. It only has 4gb data and doesn't have "feel at home" or wifi hotspot ability which are pretty useful. Ignoring that offer it was going to be a £21/month sim only deal which over 2 years (if you buy the 7+ 128gb outright) is £1323.

The contract I have just got has 10gb data, roaming, better network, free apple music for 6 months and comes to £1192 over 2 years. If you completely remove the cost of the phone from that you are paying £15.50/month for the network. You simply can't get any decent deals for £15.50 month.

I'd agree but I'll be going sim only and just keeping my 6 for now, no real reason to upgrade despite the itch.

I love my qi infinity wireless charger no wires just put it anywhere and start charging, I always have it on me though I pretty much always charge my s6 on fast charge when available, both are excellent features I'm sure apple will adopt them hopefully on the 10 year edition.

But you've got to charge your charger? Fundamentally undermines the whole idea!

Calm down, I meant it's never going to happen Apple adopting an open standard. And I remember early non mfi lightning cables being a bit rubbish but thats part of the point, there isn't an mfi for USB-C and the way it's designed means implemented incorrectly it can kill laptops.

Ordered an unlocked 7 Plus 256gb Rose Gold for the wife while were here in the US. Shipping Sept 16. That's a lot of money but also its the first time I actually liked an iphone (Note 7 user myself). This will replace her 6 Plus.
